Here is an article about the location. I saw the track a year ago and it was unskateable, the track had been neglected for 20 years. According to the article they are only fixing the holes so it may still not be any good for slalom. If they decide to totally repave it then it would be perfect. Appar...

Soapbox derby track near Boston
They just repaved a soap box derby track at the Middlesex Fells in Stoneham MA for an upcoming race. Should be a perfect venue for slalom. Its not a road that cars travel but its own track near a big field. Its called the Sheepfold and is a popular place for people to bring their dogs to run. www.bu...

Karl, what time are you going to race? Do you realize that this day is the same as the Head of the Charles? Boston will be swarming with college kids and parents. Hopefully they will steer clear of the Arbortem. Post up a race time. If I can swing skating and also seeing my neice's crew race I will ...

Matt the only toasting that will be done is the sunburn on the back of my neck. The Needham boys are fast. With no jobs, and no school all they have is time to skate. Watch out. The Arbortem hill is super nice to skate. Good session last night. Bryan was doing his best impression of Mollica skating ...

Offsets
Eric, That is an interesting way to approach setting up offsets. I was wondering if there are other methods people use. I usually just wing it and walk off distances with my feet but I get lost when I want to space out the gaps. The course at the Dam was nice. Not too hard but it had a few challengi...

Need ride
I am looking for a ride to the race Sunday morning. Anyone coming from the North Shore Boston area who could swing by Melrose MA and give me a lift? We could arrange a pickup just off of 128 at the 93 exit to make things quicker. My house is about 10 minutes from this point.

I would be up for that. TK held a banked slalom race last year around the July 4th Boston race. I didn't go due to twisted ankle at the slalom race the day before. Saw pictures and it looked cool, albeit scary. Are people skating Wednesday nights at Rye? I'd come up and join you if I can ever escape...

It was good to skate last night, first time since the Farm for me. The new Aboretum spot is sweet for surface but its still a foot drag to stop. Only advantage is that the surface is smoother than Bussy hill which can ground down a new shoesole in one session. Still have to look out for walkers, bik...

John, you are talking about the Arboretum (I think). I was there last weekend doing a family walk with the dog and Mollygirl and noticed the new fresh asphalt and thinking the same thing. Its not as steep as Buyessy Hill but baby smooth surface and long. Its basically on the backside of the hill. I'...

Derek, I tried to rectify the bad posting on the C Class results on NCDSA by pointing it out. You got the shaft on that one, sorry dude. Come north Joe and join the sissy club. We'd love to have you. I respect your fear of not getting killed. I should probably take more notice since I am a Dad now. I have been to Millennium Park a couple of times walking the dog and it always intrigued me as a possible slalom spot. Some problems though are that a lot of the paths are narrow, well traveled by walkers, and on the side of hills so if you went off the path you would have a steep drop off. But its ...

John, I like the idea of a preset marked course at the Arbortem. Let us all know when this will happen. John, I vote for a September race too. On July 4th most people want to spend it with family. I got the holiday, 2 family birthdays, and a very pregnant wife all happening around that time. Boston area slalomers
Whenever this rain stops I will be getting on my board and running some cones. Glen, let us know when you do sessions up in Beverly, that is a killer hill. Vlad, would you use these wheels for any other kind of race, Hybrid, GS? I would of thought the rounded lip would encourage lots of sliding/less traction.
