I have been going shielded and servicing them for the last few years. No special tools other than a pin to pull the shields off of. Some of the race bearings I run without the shields internally since they are serviced between races.

I have to send my wishes with Rons. I really wanted to attend this weekend but family won out for me. I will see all of my skating family soon enough.
