starts
For single lane tape switch starts, hopping the front wheels over the tapeswitch should never be allowed. It is poor sportsmanship outside of the intent of a fair start. Could be monitored just like foot faults in tennis. Tapeswitch hop = false start. I have participated in many races with the 2X pe...

2.0 Meter Pro Tight?
2.0 meters is certainly not tight for a pro level racer. Most would use a GS board for this. Why not make it 1.8m in 2007 and keep this? Looks much cooler for the spectators going at a faster cone rate.

New Batch of TNR toe-stops
Tony of TNR designs has another batch (the last one) of foot stops. I think he now has 24 of these left. Tony and I designed this footstop after the 2002 Worlds in Morro Bay after my foot slid forward after the ramp start on every one of my runs in the final 4. My first attempt at a footstop after M...

Stockholm Cyber surface
Hi Peter & Marcus,
Any idea what the surface will be like for the cyberslalom? Will it be in the same general location as the hill shown?
thanks,
Michael

Stuff
66,
Very nice having pics of the GS course. Do you have a similar course description for the dual slalom event? Is it tight? Number of cones, spacing... How about cone penalties? 0.1, 0.2, 10sec?
thanks,
Michael

Hood River should be the main. It is a multi-day event and includes a mammoth GS, and dual slalom events.

Start Ramps or Push Start?
Hi 66,
Will start ramps be used or will it be push starts? Any chance of getting a pic of the start ramps? If no ramps, how much of a push do we get?
Psyched for my first Red Clay,
Michael

Salem 100 cone challenge race, June 19, 2004
The 100 cone challenge in Salem this last weekend turned out to be quite fun. This was a DUAL 100 cone course. Very surprising to see many of the guys running 100 cones clean (Gareth had 3 clean runs in the duals and 2 or more in warmups/qualifying). The cones were NOT spaced out evenly and ranged a...

Cancelled
Hi Vlad,
As of last night I had the go ahead to take a work trip to LA in time to make the Bicknell race. This morning they cancelled it so I'll have to sit at home and cry while you guys are gunning for the sub 6 sec run. Damn this would have been cool. Give em hell.

Corky, The points for Antibes in the world ranking look very odd. I see Luca with less points than Dhyan and both Paul Price and I have 0 points. Also, what class of race is Antibes? It appears to be a main with the Super G not adding points? I see Maurus with 1000 pts and he won both the special an...

Corky,
Thanks for all of your hard work. This will going a long way towards really making slalom a more international sport.
My question is, is it only 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings that receive points?

Vlad,
All sounds good. 5.5ft, 15ft push is a groove.
Your French Cyber times are lightning fast. Some personal issues may keep me from racing overseas until after July. If there is a way, I will be at Paris but it does not look promising right now.

Hi Corky, With NCDSA cyberslalom, the timer starts 15ft from the first cone and the timer starts when you cross the line and your push foot has to be within a 3 by 3ft box bordered by the start line. In the end, for push or ramps starts, and even running the cones, there will always be an advantage ...

I tried the french cyber tonight (40 cone, 1.8meters on center). I got in about 5 to 6 pushes over about a 15 to 20 meter push start. Easy fix. Remove sideplates. Apply a very light coating of grease (bicycle grease works good) to the surfaces of the side plates that come in contact with the baseplate and the pivot block. Wipe excess (make sure no excess grease is gonna find its way to your wheels). Reassemble. Click no more. 1 1/...
TK - I don't change the riser height from Flashback to Gumball. For both I use 5/8" risers with a Roe Bullet that has subdued wheelwells. I set my PVD hardstops with about 5/16" clearance to allow for board flex and I can hammer with confidence. I can't wait to race against Avilas with the Gumball/B...
Rob, I wouldn't recommend these as the fastest wheels for cyberslalom or tight slalom, but for hybrid and GS these will be unbeatable. I predict they will change the way we set courses and have as big an impact on slalom as the first white Avalons. They may be the inertia needed to see real tight sl...

Is there interest in getting a shoe partnering system in place where guys who use the same shoes, same size and footdrag with opposite feet can help each other out? First round stuff is always kind of skewed since sometimes you are racing a guy who is over a second slower so the faster guy just does a coasting run, not risking a dq and saving strength for the later rounds. Max speed is reserved for qualifying and an opponent who is as fast or faster than you. T...
