Hey Rick, Nothing specific to the start or whoop-de-doos. For the start, you will be able to drop in from your tail or axle, or you can roll in over the coping. We will be adding an extension to the platform on the start ramp. There is a bit of vid on the Freshpark home page: http://freshpark.com/ A...

Yes sir.
Everything is a bit compressed.

RIP Slalom Innovator Howard Gordon
It is with a heavy heart that I post the sad news that Howard Gordon has passed away. I first met Howard right after the 2001 World Slalom Championships in Morro Bay. He had attended the race and quickly became interested in racing, along with his children Dylan and Lauren, who both went on to becom...

More pros? Offer real prize money. However it's not going to come from slalom/skateboard companies. Take a look at vert/street contests, the prize money doesn't come from skateboard companies. So how do we get our hands on that money...get on TV. TV equals eyeballs, sponsors like eyeballs. Right now...

Just nail 'em down like they did in the old days! I'm sure Rick Floyd would be stoked because he digs the danger. Seriously though, I've been down this road many times and still haven't come up with anything that works. We have to get rid of manually counting cones. Heck, NASCAR can clean up a five ...

[2009] Morro Bay Blvd - Paved...Let's Race
For those of you who have raced in Morro Bay, you are probably familiar with Morro Bay Boulevard, it runs parallel to Pacific Street, one block north. The city just finished repaving it on Friday, May 8th, 2009. It's butter smooth, perfect fresh black. I will soon announce a date for a major race th...

Too early
Rick, a couple of things...I wrote that post way too early in the morning, and it wasn't directed towards you personally. If I came across as "harsh", I apologize. From my experience in putting on a few races, the round of 32 rarely produces an upset. What it does do, is subject the spectators to so...

16 racer finals
It's the Worlds. Unlike so many other sports, our sport offers everyone a chance to compete in the World Championships, show up and pay your entry fee and you're in. The round of 32 is useless when you are running the typical head to head, swap lanes, lowest overall time advances format. If you qual...

The A,B,C deal is great for allowing racers to have more runs and also for letting racers earn an award. I have competed in numerous A,B,C events and thoroughly enjoyed them. They are fun to race in, not quite as much fun to administer. I have never understood people who say that the ABC system prev...

Just received some financial support from Wayne at Surf-Rodz (check his ad in the new Concrete Wave) and Eric Meyer, the guy who started Simple Shoes. Eric grew up in Morro Bay right across the street from Paul Dunn. Neither of these guys will be displaying a banner at the race, they kicked down bec...
