We added a "Penny Slalom" or "Plastic-Class" side-show to our last race of 2012, and to a ditch race half way through the year. With any wireless system, there will be a delay between crossing the tape, getting the signal out, receiving the signal, decoding the signal and then closing the relay, to stop the clock, that does not exist in a cable system.
