# of cones for a DQ?

5.1 START OF RUN 5.4 DISQUALIFICATIONS I don't think there should be a fixed rule to say that more than 10 cones is DQ. If you have a DQ time of 1 second on a 0,1 sec conepenalty course then it would be true. But if you have a 10% of total time DQ or whatever then it may be different. And by all me...

Cones are already accounted for in the tie-breaking.

6.3 PROVISIONS FOR TIES Take also into account the number of cones to break a tie. The cones are already accounted for. They went into calculating the Resultant Time (final time) for each of the racers. The racers were tied due to the times being equal (after counting cones). The tie-breaker times ...

DQ Time penalty

The 2008 rules proposal has a single description of the "Standard" way to penalize a DQ: 999 second Resulting Time (final time). I am specifically NOT endorsing other methods of "softening" the DQ penalty because: A) A DQ penalty of a smaller amount (e.g 1 second) could encourage a racer to delibera...

Start Penalty

The 2008 rules proposal has a single start penalty as the "Standard" way to do start penalties. It is the 2X the early-start interval. I am specifically proposing to NOT ENDORSE the "DQ" method of start penalty because: A) It slows down the race process. B) It is too extreme a penalty for jumping th...

Can it really be this simple?

My point, though, was to illustrate how a course setter can just set a course that's perfect for the hill and not worry about how tight or loose or offset it might be. He just knows it's a great course for that particular location. Then afterward he can go back and measure the course, count the num...

Re: Good Idea Wesley!

Tiger has the course set for the race this weekend. The DHBs have the course set for the Dixie Cup They had the course set for the Worlds back in August. Please expand this idea into specific proposal.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. The best way to discern the difference between Tight, Hybrid and Giant is the by the number of cones over a given distance. Dictating cone spacings is just too limiting. Here's the deal. ****************** So many cones (15-20) per 100 feet equals tight ...

Will we ever have a "perfect" way to describe dici

I do not believe we will ever have a perfect method for describing the disciplines for slalom. May I suggest that we don't get too hung up looking at the number of cones/meter (or cones per 100 feet for Wesley), or meters per cone. Rather, let's look at the "Intent" written into the discipline descr...

Cone Spacing Limits of 3.0m are to much. There is a Hybrid Slalom for that. There should be a limit of 2.0m not more. I agree with the intent of Jadranko's statement.
