Re: set up
So ........ just checking........this deck is 1 of maybe 5 made by???? in 2001 using a core shaped by bobby in about 1997 originally for the sims turners ,and using green and black because thats all he had laying around. It was made for the "Turner Downhill" that Howard had organised. Is this corre...

Chris, thanks for that explanation. I had some of those facts down, but never knew the whole story of the Seismic/Turner Green/Black connection. Just to clarify. The needlenose under discussion is NOT a Seismic/Turner. Those date from the early 90s. The cores I refered to were shaped by Bobby for (...

Tim, I didn't know Bobby built anything in the mid-1990s. I know he built some Blackbirds for Gilmour around 1991 or so, but anything between then and 2000 would surprise me. I'm not arguing with CBara, but I'd think your board might be closer to 5 or 6 years old rather than 9 or 10. Then again, BT...

On the plus side I did get some "snurfing" in this mrong on a vintage brunswick snurfer with original yellow rope! I can't wait to get home ...

to introduce skateboarding to "the masses" I personally would recommend the following - "freewheelin" - get past the chessy story line to see the purity of rolling down a hill on a skateboard, wind in your long blonde hair and sun in your face. The purity of the riding in the movie stoke me everytim...

This idea of "skateboarding is a lifestyle" is bunk. Sure when you are about 18 it seems cool to pretend you live a skateboard lifestyle but people grow up, or they should. Street skating is less of a sport now-a-days and more of an art form. The level of technically ability that a good street skate...

Noah and I tried 100 cones today. I rolled into our practice spot about 15mins late and see Noah finishing laying down cones. I park my car and walk over and say "so that is 100 cones huh?" (or something like that)...Noah say "Nope that only 50"...'"50!, damn!". We had no more room and no possible a...

Jani - the Morro Bay course (sunday, day 2) was what 50-60 cones. You saw how many people were huffing and puffing by the end of that one! vlad - yes I do remember that side of the lot. The pitch is flatter to so it will give the newbies a chance at making 100. Their speed won't build up to a point ...

The Comet boys use MDF foam to build up the rails of their decks. Toe lift in the front, heel lift in the back (like an alpine snowboard) or mock concave. All of them but Cross use it front and back foots, Cross only uses it under his front foot and runs flat in the back.... I actually do KINDA the ...

I bitch an moan about ramps more than anyone. But I gotta agree with Jani. The FCR ramps are about as good as they get. They are not so intimidating after a few pulls off of them. If anything the entire transition of the FCR ramps could be extended 1-2 feet making the "drop" smoother, but that is be...

Henry J..the course at Morro Bay on Sunday was a power pumper, you had to pump 100% all the way down (50+ cones). The "hill" in downtown morro is fairly flat, the surface is iffy, but the venue is AMAZING (we must of had 800+ spectators in an out that day). A high/hard wheel like the flashback was t...

jack, I know, I know....I know posting times are low priority. Maybe consider next year some kind of digital scoreboard above the decks behind the start ramps? I know those things can be costly but it would be great for 2 reasons. Racers can imediately see their raw times and know walking up the hil...

I know one of my runs with Dong (the first I think) he ran a 17.0 clean, the second run was 17.2 as I remember. Both runs at that point in the day were the fastest yet. Dong was HOT! I think if the open finals happened then and there and not 3 hours later (riders sit and stiffen up and psych themsel...

I must admit I favor push starts...give a box (6x6') and 20' to the first cone and be done with it. I even like GBJ style "lunge" starts, though they need the right course. However, I did dig the feel of the FCR ramps once I got the feel for them a bit. I skated mini ramps for a long time so pumping...

John, You can use MS Paint in your "accessories" folder to roughly draw things. It works like a poor mans photoshop, but it allows you to roughly draw stuff and add type. Save as/export out to .GIF or .JPG (if you can), if you can't the default is .BMP (which is windoze standard), most non windoze b...

Wesley's black fullnose is the widest classic turner I have seen yet. I would say compared to the new GS/Hybrid XLs being 9.25", Wesley's is about 8.75-9". Comfortable under foot, a bit wide for my tastes. I know youa re proud of it Wesley...it is a rare deck! Ed Economy has a few really older summe...
