Re: Wiggle War, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, June 18-19 2011
One week from today!!!!! They only went as far out as Friday on this morning's weather forecast, but it's supposed to be sunny and mid-70's. Let's all hope and pray it lasts all weekend! The orange barrels are going up on Main St. I was really hoping they could hold off on that until after the Wiggl...

[2010] No Wiggle War 2010
Sorry my friends – No Wiggle War in 2010. Got a lot of personal stuff going on in my life and I need to take a year off. I prolly won’t be able to go to any other contests this year either. I’ll be thinking of you all though and following your exploits on the forums. Have fun!

Preliminary 2010 race dates
I'll jump in. The Wiggle War will be June 19 & 20 in 2010. We'll prolly have a little informal / unofficial tom-foolery Friday night the 18th for those that arrive early. If we don't get rained out this year.

The Guy that started up the race in Batavia IL this past March is only 15 yrs old. He did not have a slalom board of his own or any cones. He asked on Silverfish if anyone would come if he threw a race. There aren't enough races in the Midwest, so the idea took off. People agreed to bring cones and ...

Yeah ... I remember getting the 1st one together in 2006. I do believe you were the first one to sign up and the one that contacted the Chi+ill brethren. This race owes a lot to you. Maybe each year we should have a special trophy we give out to the guy or girl that brings the most stoke to the even...

OK. Just got back from the weightlifting competition. I know why the entry fee was so high. Cool t-shirts. And they don't have a list of 50 sponsors on the back. 2 cool graphics. One on the front of the shirt and one on the back. Cool trophies too. Oh, and did I mention? I came home with TWO trophie...

I was thinking more about it on the way home from work. I just want to make the racers happy. I know I'm never gonna be in a place where I'm standing on the podium collecting cash. I also remember reading here on the ISSA forum that the key to longevity for any event is to keep it evolving. I'm tryi...

You can pay at race day. The first year I tried to get people to pay up front, but I think only 1 or 2 people did. Last year I think one person did. So, pay when you come. Yeah, we always have a little free time. There's time between the slalom and downhill events for people to get some lunch. Last ...

Well ... The first 2 years, the Saturday morning event was straight, tight slalom. In 2006 it was single lane, 5.5' centers. In 2007 it was dual lane 6' centers. Not exactly straight because the road itself curves, but there were no offset cones, just following the gentle arc of the road. I guess I'...

[2008] Entry fees
I just signed up for a weightlifting competition. I know. Me. Right? But the point is, there are 2 events - bench press and dead lift. The entry fee is $35 PER EVENT ... and spectators pay $2 each. As an unsposored skater that has to pay his own entry fees, I hesitate to ask, but are we charging eno...

A couple years ago we had a good hard frost overnight. The road surfaces were coated with fine white crystals. I went to my favorite parking lot and set out the cones. I figured a couple passes through and the heat from my wheels would melt a path through the frost. The first several passes I couldn...

Yeah - I've put fliers up in local skate shops and the schools in the area. Freedom Skateboards in Madison has been a big help. I also put the word out via the ISSA, NCDSA, and SilverFish forums. Cfav and all the Chi+ill crew have helped a great deal too. Elizabeth from Sk8trip saw the event on eith...

Let's not have too much expectations on first year events. It's rarely a highlight. Organizers need at least a year or two to get their act together and do a good job. The first year it's most often overwhelming. I put on a modest little race in Wisconsin each June. 2008 will be the 3rd year. Mine ...

I use the red/toeside, white/heelside as a training tool for tight slalom. It helps me figure out what I might be doing wrong if after a run I turn around and see that I've knocked over 1 white cone and 7 red cones. Red cones look prettier in photos. White cones are higher visibility. I skate at nig...

Hey Paul - Love to have you come to the Sun Prairie race. The problem with you and all the people that have signed up so far is that you're too fast. It ensures a LAST place finish again for me this year. So if you're coming, bring some slow friends so I can have a chance at climbing out of the cell...
