Re: Does anyone care about ranking?

Well.I'm just another opinion, but there certainly have been some great points made here (no pun intended). I think that the idea of the "pro" and am is a good idea, but maybe not the right terminology. What now makes up the A and B class in the states, all ride one course. What is now the C class ar...

Erik (my Erik, not Basil) has fixed our two dual lane beeper timers. We are going to test them tomorrow. They use CAT 5 network cable with standard ends. If anybody needs a timer, just give me free entry fee and I'll bring the kit, minus the cable. You need to buy that, unless I can drive. The probl...

Eddy,
Call trakmate. Get a book. Get them on the phone. They don't want the racing league to think their product is substandard.
Good thing it happened during practice.

Marcus Rietema has a timing system. It is wireless. I don't know if it is 2 lanes or not, but it is legit. I've never seen it have a problem once it was set up. It costs about $3000. 100 racers at $20 is $2000, still not enough. It's not going to come from dues. It's going to come from somebody who ...

small error

Hi, I was reviewing the records and there is a typo on my record time. No really. It says 20.43+0 is 22.43. Since you won't believe I pulled a 20.43, let's say 22.43+0 is 22.43. Thanks

And congratulatons again to Janis. On flat. Unbelievable.

< Ed note: Corrected. Thanks! Jani>

Good Europeans

I must admit at first I was disappointed that the tight would be on flat. Of course, because I have one of the best hills in the world to skate. But what it did was level the playing field. No pun intended. Not all of the competitors have the same privaleges, and some prefer different types of racin...

Joe and Kyle McLaren take over the World!

Hey COSS brothers. Every other year, a deserving skater gets sent to Europe by his comrades to race. This year, who has won more races than Joe McLaren? Help Sk8kings send Joe, Kyle, and Casey to the Czech Republic. Sk8kings has set up the McFund. Any amount helps. Already a handful of the Axe Army ...

Womens Pro and Am

At a World Championship, you should be skating at a level that can at least hang with the top racers, if even a couple seconds behind. This is a World Championship. At a grass roots race, it is wonderful, almost mandatory, to have a womens amateur race. It is a great way to get more women into racin...

Marcus, I agree with you that the World Record Weekend and the Antrim race are two different events. fore runner

In ski racing they account for different courses by sending fore-runners. They use 4 of them in some leagues, and they are consistent racers, not always at the top, but always consistent. That way they know how fast a course is, and can apply handicaps. A possible solution to differing courses can b...

In ski racing, if you ride the course, you will make GIANT ruts in the course. With skateboarding, we don't have this problem. Definitely should limit warmups to 2 runs, one each lane, between heats, but at the beginning of the day, let people run for an hour or 1 1/2 hours. The more experienced rac...
