Lives on Board
Not that my plate needs to be any fuller... I've been thinking about this for quite awhile, there are not many sports/activities that you begin in your preteen or teen years and continue participating in throughout your life. Skateboarding is one such sports/activity. (lifestyle) For some of us "ska...

As many of you know I have been working on the "Lords of Dogtown" film. It began shooting last week in Imperial Beach, California. Eddy, Some of the earliest races were the Laguna Night Rallies back in '63 or '64. One of the guys racing then was Joey Cabell, who went on to start the Chart House chain. He also worked on the Bahne Single Ski with Mike Doyle. Guys like Denis Shufeldt and Tommy Ryan competed in the 1965 World Champ...

I'm glad to see this forum. We really need to encourage the younger skaters to give slalom a try. Let me know if I can help?

Whatever Biltin bearings are rated is fine with me. I rode the same set of Biltins all the way across America, never touched them. Just before the Worlds I popped them out and put them in my slalom wheels and rode them to equal 9th and equal 17th finishes in the Open Class. After the Worlds I put th...

Of Zephyrs and Friends
Today there was a Zephyr blowing through the canyons of the central coast, and my thoughts drifted back to this same time of year in 1975. I was 19 years old and had been skating for less than a year. It was around 10am and I was practicing nose wheelies in my driveway when this VW Bus rolls to a st...

Rankings
Hello Corky, It is unfair to rank racers other than the top four in head to head racing. Qualifying times are just that...qualifying times. Head to Head times don't work either because a faster racer will often go just fast enough to beat a slow racer. Any head to head race that I organize will use ...

My first skatecar
Hey Slappy, Sorry for not answering your question sooner. In the 70's skatecars were run on straight courses.
