Pointers for putting together a race
Hey all, I posted this in Random Slalom Topics, but thought it relevant to be here as well. I'm thinking about putting together a small race in my Hometown of Strathmore, AB, Canada. There are not many racers here, so it needs to be something to attract racers from elsewhere. But I think something l...

Pointers for putting together a race
Hey all, I'm thinking about putting together a small race in my Hometown of Strathmore, AB, Canada. There are not many racers here, so it needs to be something to attract racers from elsewhere. But I think something like this might attract new people to the sport. I teach Jr. High here, and I'm fair...

Hi , I'm Phish! Been skateboarding for many years, coming on to 23 years, some years less skating than others. Got into slalom about 2 years ago, and I'm working on getting faster and faster. http://members.shaw.ca/christophish/vernon.jpg BORN: December 1, 1971 LIVES: Strathmore, Alberta Canada RIDE...

Wasn't a threat Donald. I said "be careful" the same way a university professor would when marking a paper that makes a claim without evidence. That could be dangerous on many levels, not just for the person making the statement, but for everyone involved: In this case, the modifiers, or even the ma...

Careful Donald. Have you had the "Canadian version" (speed-dealer) in your hands and checked it against the Geezer version? Or do you prefer the Geezer one because Blair Watson is behind the "canadian version" and you two have a history of ill will toward one another? I'm sure Geezer's Bennett is ki...

After posting I thought that maybe my post looked like I wanted to deter people away from the Sk8kings truck. THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL! Sk8Kings are a killer force behind our scene and I applaud Richy and Maria for what they are doing (As you can see, I'm a member of the Axe Army myself!) I just ...

Bennetts have always been a great turning truck, and with the right modifications to the Vector reis...

Calgary area would be very rad! There is talk about coordinating a slalom race with the SLAC downhill race at Canada Olympic Park in August. All right, Just got mine... Here's my review: Here's what I got: I went with the 88mm hangers, but they are also available in 76mm (Same width as the O.G. Bennett Pros) and 99mm. It was between the 88's and 76mm, but I decided to go with the middle ground. I also got the Khiro set-up with the "tower...

Just because I've done some research both here, and elsewhere, and it seemed to be a theme among others' posts, when they talk about set-ups for Tight Slalom. I've never tried an offset, and being new to slalom, I haven't had much experience with GS, where I can see an offset being essential, and ca...

Do most people run an offset rear truck for hybrid courses? 6 foot spacing or more with offset cones. Or do they hinder your pump too much. What width as well? I'm interested to know how many do or don't...

I have these lying around... 155mm lightly used.
Looking for a used offset rear truck in trade, doesn't matter Indy, Tracker, whatever. Anyone having one lying around and need to set up a longboard?

Thanks for the pointers guys. We are setting up a slower course (same hill, just starting lower) in order to work on "body english." the course on that video was extremely fast, and I found it difficult to really work on form. I was basically just trying to get down quickly and cleanly without eatin...

Been getting pointers from my friend Brad (the guy walking up the hill in this vid), but it's always nice to get more. Couldn't afford to go to Dovencourt last week, so I'm looking for input from the scene here.... This is me a couple of weeks ago, I've been into slalom for a very short time, and wo...

New Precision Bennetts... Getting STOKED!!!!
Ok... So I was wondering about these new Bennetts we've been promised, and was getting a bit impatient and starting to think Bennett was up to the same old tricks, so I figured I'd email Mr. Bennett again, expecting the same auto-reply that many of us had received in the past. Here's what I got inst...

rear truck traction question
So I'm looking for a little extra traction on hybrid courses. Can't afford an offset rear truck as yet, I'll be springing for a modded Indy/Tracker or a Splitfire soon but in the meantime.... I've been thinking spacing the wheels a little further out in the back than the front might be an idea. Anyo...

Most guys around here ride boards with 17-18 wb, such as the Pocket Pistols Old Punk 36, Skull All-City, etc. for park slalom. Wheels tend to be the higher durometers in the 60-65mm range. Softer tend to be to slow on the concrete (for park slalom that is). Wouldn't worry too much about pumping in t...

There are a bunch of us here in Calgary. Always looking for more to skate with. We travel to Edmonton from time to time to hit the bowls, so some slalom would be fun too! Hey guys, I know it's a bit of a drive (although not as far as Ottawa), but there is a growing slalom interest here in Calgary.
