So with the downsizing at Turner, what's the status with the 44" downhill board? As it's a foam-core construction, who's doing the glassing? Is the project also on hold or is Turner Downhill looking at another source for assembling these boards? With the various Fibreflexes, the Bonita and Ick's 37"...

Brian, Another technique to consider is just go ahead and learn to slalom WITH THE CONES OFFSET. I'm not talking about a hipper two feet off the centerline, but just a gentle wiggler. Lay down a straight line course. THEN, take one cone and set it next to every other cone. (When you set down the con...

And to the extreme right of the new 37" pintail, check out the gorgeous antique Icks layong on the ground! Adam picked up my Red Ick and my blue-taped white Ick. And some clown even had the audacity to bring his orange Summer Ski into the Ick House. The nerve of some people! Yes, I want the 37" pint...

Ok. Silly Question Time: Who says you can only have gates if you have a ramp? Why can't a gate swing open (thus the visual effect everyone desires,) and racers push so many feet to the first cone? This levels the playing field for racers who don't have 24/7 access to practice ramps and also gives a ...

Jack said, "The days of 6' courses on steep hills may be over, given the increased speeds due to better urethane formulas and faster bearings. " The trouble here is the definition of a word like "steep." What is steep? Jack, 6-foot offsets on steep hills are run all over the East. 'da Farm is steepe...

Howard, Three quick questions about things I can't tell from the photo: 1. Is it cambered? 2. Is it glass and foam only? Any composites in the construction? 3. Can the forward truck be drilled farther out for additional wheelbase? (The pointed nose is pretty, but can it be put to a more practical us...

Bobo, don't take this personally, but I think Henry is referring to the "classic" Summer Skis with the rolled top. The Blackbirds have the flat top and rail sides that are a premonition of the "white birds" that came along 12 years later. Henry, my board is a classic summer ski, just glass and foam ...

I've asked this question elsewhere and will ask it again. My full nose Summer Ski dates from 1982 (Actually, I got my hands on it in early 1983.) What interests me the most are the dimensions. The board is 29-1/2" long and a full 9 INCHES wide. None of the new boards that I have seen come close to t...
