I bought a set of Speed Vents at the Paris race. I have ridden them at the Ohio and Hood River events, as well as many hours of practice time...as of today I have not experienced any problems with these wheels. He had stood in this same spot thirty years earlier. From the summit, the road stretched out before him, a mile long, downhill stretch of smooth asphalt. It almost seemed steeper now than it had back then, was that possible he thought to himself. In 1975 he was the fastest skateboarder in the world,...

New Dual Racing Format
I have come up ith a new dual racing format that will allow us to give every racer a proper placing. Qualifying and seeding will be as usual. First round - The higher seed will get lane choice. The racers will take only one run. Winner advances. Loser goes to the losers bracket. Both the winner and ...

Hi Wes, At the 2005 Worlds, the first racer across the finish line started the clock, the trailing racer stopped the clock. The differential was then flashed on an electronic scoreboard at both the top and bottom of the course. This was a "raw differential" as cone penalties hadn't been applied. I d...

Jonathan, Marty I believe we did capture the elapsed “absolute” times. I'll have to check with Chris, the fellow I hired to do the timing. Fluitt might have them also. ahhh...the "Wrath of Jack". Yes Chris, it seems that I am in a very small minority on this subject. Poll away! For my events I won't be swayed by a poll. Other organizers, of course, can run their events in any manner they choose. Will my position reduce the numbers of entries in my events? Possibly.

Pat, you are correct. "Unfair" is not the proper word. Maybe I'm too much of a purist, I think the "equal placing" method is the truest to the spirit of head to head racing. Here's my dilemma; As a race organizer, I choose to use the "equal placing" method for final placement. I announce this before...

Jani, I find it hard to believe that you would have preferred 26th position to equal 17th. The "equal system" would have no effect on the overall rankings as racers do not finish the same at each race, this along with scaled points being awarded at different status races would eliminate the ties so ...

The idea is to get rid of "equal placing" as much as possible. Why? It is the fairest of all the systems offered. In my opinion, and you know the old saying about opinions, any place earned by using qualifying times and/or loser heat times from the head to head to portion of the race, are false pla...

Method D uses the times received in the current round of head-to-head to sort the "equal losers" in that round. Good point Claude. And if I would have opened it up to discussion we would probably still be debating it, wait a minute...we are. Just kidding. Thanks for the poll, Pat. In true head to head racing, only the difference between the two racers crossing the finish line is timed. We did this at Morro this year, with very little grumbling from the racers. I plan to use this method from now on in any event I organize. So there would be no "head t...

This is directed to the forum in general. Qualifying seeds you in the finals...period. Racing places you. You cannot place ahead of someone you did not beat in the head to head round. What is so wrong about placing equal 5th, equal 9th, etc? Is it some sort of self-esteem issue? I just don't get it.
