We just got a little practice time with 6' centers, on the lower third of the hill (where Tiger Williams' Hybrid course is). I now know enough to say, with certainty, that those guys that will be running the upper third of the hill are insane!! Heh heh!! This will be a great race to watch and should...

The wheels appear to be well-made and well-thought in the design. They are not exactly like the HotSpot, are they ? ;) Well, no. Neither the Manx nor ZigZags are "like" the Hot Spot, which is a great wheel, basically a new mold of a "trimmed 3dm". If you go to the gun-totin' cowboys of slalom websi...

Rough story, and now that you've taken it to where you have, I suggest you get proactive and interactive with that Police Chief. Those rules that Chewning posted from the CSU are great, and are aimed at the legitimate problems that skateboards and bikes/scooters, etc can have on a college campus: da...
I knew the Avilas were coming out that way, but I just noticed that the duro is listed as 73a for the crystal-clear red. That explains a little about why I was tearing my Cambrias apart! That's a big hunk of 'thane! I gotta get me a set of the 70mm "Red Rider" Zig Zags to go on a board that needs bi...

I've been using one of the rail kits for setups of boards we test on another website, and just built another up last night. It's when I use the kit that I am reminded what a KILLER product it is: first, it's easy to wedge at different angles; second, the wedges are designed with the minimum height p...
Ha ha!! Okay, regardless of utility, I still have an unreasonably soft spot in my heart for clear, red wheels. I even like the look of the clear, red Kryptos. The clear, red Cambrias look really good and ride very soft. The red is very Road-Riderey when you look at them from the side, and the emboss...

I have the clear red Cambrias and also the clear red ZigZags. Aside from the different feel and performance from the different shapes, the colors are different, too. The 3dm wheels are crystal clear red and the Retros are darker red and not quite as clear...very much like a Sims wheel used to be, ac...

I have two ways to clean them: --in a "LaSonic" ultrasonic jewelry cleaner that I picked up at WalMart for $17. I use a heated solvent and leave them open-side-down in the basket. Time varies by what I'm doing at the time, but 20 minutes is about what I use. When I'm done, I rinse them with a squirt...
Chris Chaput brought the entire line of ZigZags out to Pump Station, yesterday, for an open testing/practice session with the SilverfishLongboarding and La Costa Boys Racing crews. It turned into a skatefest, actually, but we all had a chance to ride the ZigZags in on the Hybrid and GS courses. The ...

Thanks, Justin! Jack, in response to your one query, I actually know: --Ron has made rumblings on Concrete Disciples that he's looking into the Biltins idea. --Chris has repo'd a set of the ceramic Biltins I made, using what I call "KMart Ceramic" balls. He has reserved comment until he rides them m...

I did get the red one! My buddy and I didn't want to be TOO "twinsy", and he's got the black one coming. We went with the RT-s/RT-x setup, being new enough to slalom that the nuances of the trucks are likely to be lost upon me, at least. Certainly for a while. I've got a special bonus on the setup: ...

Several of us have been building our own hybrid ceramic Biltins, using ceramic balls out of the cheapest bearing sets we can score on eBay or balls out of the expensive "Rockin Ron's" ceramic bearings. They seem to work great, giving the high speed performance of a bearing that only needs the lighte...

Ordered Up: Two Axe Two's
Thanks to Lynn Kramer and Tiger Williams' Pump Station event in December, my buddy Malakai Kingston and I caught enough of the slalom bug that we want more. Thanks to Lynn offering to let us check out her AXE II, we also found the boards we're gonna jump in with! The concavity at the nose and the fi...

Pump Station Pro-Am, January 21, 2006
Some of us rank amateurs went out to try slalom at the first one, in December. If you want to read about what we saw and check the gallery of photos: go here.
