Here is the latest answer to this topic from Blair.

The initial thought was that we'd run a Canadian Nationals comp. We decided
not to as this will be an international event. Somehow that made it on the
new site. That will be changed shortly.

You can run a Slalom comp but to decide that you we're going to make it the
Nationals without talking to anyone is wrong.

so who's job is it exactly to decide who gets the nationals?

i would wager that if the nationals were held in vancouver there would be a larger showing..... but i think that ottawa should be where the event is held

Actually the last time Calgary hosted the Canadian Skateboard Championships that included Slalom was 1982. Brad Kasha was the main guy running it.

I will be talking to Brad again in a little while as I asked him to investigate the legitimacy of the event and organization on all our behalfs.

Received and e-mail from Blair Watson upon my return from Texas with a congrats and I asked him about the info he was suposed to forward me regarding a slalom event in Calgary. He originally contacted me about in January.

He said he'd have something to me soon. He also stated htat he was to meet up with Bard last week and soething happened.

I have been contacted about a race in Calgary but they never said anything about nationals.

We have our 2nd meeting in two weeks for our race so we will be posting additional info then.

i just read that theyre in calgary, what happened to ottawa.

i have a feeling that if the race is put on by the paskapoo dudes it will be nothing more than a side show to the downhill event.

I'd also consider Whistler. It's a sports town and is what it's become because of people bringing in events; so asking them to close a street for a race race seems worth investigating...they used to do it yearly for bicycle road races. It's expensive to be there but it's close enough to Vancouver that the drive up in the morning to race isn't unreasonable.

What Malcolm said about Richmond is the truth 100%...it's really not a good choice at all..

the dovercourt race was excellent! i hope it stayes in ottawa though, i really enjoyed the fireworks on parlement hill! the headwindon the second day sucked! but the spots were awsome

so claude, i assume youre organizing the canadian nationals for 2007. i heard rumors that you would be doing the race out west, if so where. you mentioned banff and richmond bc. banff is a bad idea cause there are almost no skaters there (couches to crash on) and hotels could be very costly as it is a big tourist trap. richmond has no hills, i mean mabey a small hill that would work for a ts but nothing big enough for a nice hybrid or GS. richmond is below sea level and it is very flat, flatter than florida.

i know many excellent spots in burnaby and vancouver and i will help organize and find good spots, if you want.


this is all assuming you do the race out west. if you do the race out east ill be there with a few of the vancouver crew most likely, those hills are sweet. if the nationals arent in ottawa i think you should still do a dovercourt race, and i'll show up to that, but doing a large event is alot of work so either way its all good.
