I know it's a little late for this but i now have another montrealer registered here: Mia!!

We'll be able to post here some sessions locations and times to meet.

I'll start:
If it's dry i'll be at Parc lafontaine tuesday oct 28 at 13:30
Come on Mia, i'll have that new kebbek slalom for you...

i think this site is way cool, ive been catching up on my how to's. So if its nice tomorrow then i will most likely come to parc lafontaine, but for some reason if you chose to not show up call and leave me a message because i wont be bringing my cones.
This weekend was way cool. hopefully some of the guys from montreal that were at the gathering will start to maybe post here too(but thats not likely as they are all into downhill), but theres always a chance. cause i really need to skate with a crowd to get over my shy problem.
see ya tomorrow hopefully...(crossing my fingers for good weather)

Indoors slalom

Post by Pierre Gravel » Thu Oct 30, 2003 3:22 pm

Hi Mia, yes i did that last winter at the U of Montreal parking on Jean-Brillant, it's covered but still outdoors so it's cold and slippery but i couldn't find a better spot. There is a covered parking behind Imax in the old port too but we get kicked out quick, i want to ask permission to skate there but i could not find who to contact. Do you know any indoors spot? At your school maybe? We'll keep looking cause i want to skate this winter.

The South Park Skatepark is supposed to open nov. 5 in Brossard, maybe there will be a long enough space there...

How about this after noon (Thursday), it' sunny this morning.
Later...

I'm actually working on it John, it's such a good place to race,
garanteed crowds and good coverage. If you come to Montreal, let me know, i'd like to show you where on that street i'd like to race.

At the canadian gathering we talked about a 3 cities in 3 days race series, that could be fun too...

That's good to hear Joe. We will work with that in the planning.

Make sure we are informed of the US East coast schedule as it is being put together.

Joe, it would be great if you came up here, we have a good little group of very interested and committed slalomers. It would be nice having a race less than 8hrs away for once. Bring the whole family, or at least Nick...we can talk about how chickens cant burp. Anyway, glad your showing some interest..........tell your friends.

American Buddies Coming to Canada

Post by Robert Sydia » Thu Nov 06, 2003 4:04 pm

Hey Joe and John:

I think it would be fantastic if the East Coast Crew made it up to Canada for a weekend of slalom racing. I have been so impressed with the hospitality that we have received at your events - it would be great to be able to offer it back.

Claude and I have discussed the need for a CAN-AM race or series and now that we have a very committed core group of racers in Eastern Canada - I think we can make this a reality.

Claude has identified and gained permits for a couple excellent venues in the Ottawa area - that would be perfect for high-caliber racing as well as great locations to expose the general public to SLALOM RACING.

Let's work together through the winter and get an event ready for the spring!!!!!

John - you and I will have a chance to talk further about this at ECES this March.

All the best and completely psyched seeing this grow!!

I almost forgot a quote that Michael Brooke used to get people to attend his Concrete Wave event in Toronto - I think it says it best:

Great beer, cheap hotels, almost 2 for 1 dollars and full nudity titty bars!!!!!

Hopefully I do not offend Mary-Beth and Mia.

Yes i will do anything to win! haha.

We had a really good session yesterday, just Jim and i but we had set the meanest dual tech course and we raced like crazy.

My new board is AWESOME, really exited about it, the flex is perfect and my new shape is even better than expected, i did not have to adapt at all, just go faster.

Did you try your new board Claude?

Hey Montreal sessions are ON!
Even if my ankle is not fully functionnal i want to train and need riding buddies.

Mia, i know you<re in Town so no hiding! ;-)
There is a nice little hill on 8th avenue close to my place and Parc Angrignon is clean too.

There is a super healthy slalom community in Quebec city too so trips there are planned.

Hey!

Pity I didn't meet you when I stayed in Montréal for a year! I'm from Switzerland and in 2001/2002 I was 11 month in Terrebonne. I will return this summer so maybe we could go for a slalom then! ;)

Cheers!

Hey Jann, there is a sliding session at the Big O tonite around 7, the setup you had the other day would do it i think, i'll bring more boards in case.

Maybe we will do westmount after that, if you want to try, i'll bring a extra board for that too.
