[PVD] why 8mm axles?

almost all low end trucks will use a 5/16" nominal axle diameter. sometimes these will run up to .010" undersize. this puts their diameter in the range of .3125" to .3025".

the 608 bearing all current skate wheels use have nominal bores of 8mm. using an Sliding Clearence Fit they require an axle shaft with diameter range of .3142" to .3146".

the clearence slop on low end trucks of between .0017" and .0117" is what causes increased wheel flutter, bearing friction, and noise.

that is why the 8mm axle is so important for racing trucks (all trucks in my opinion).

Peter,
I had heard that the axles on the G.E.T's have a left-hand thread, is this so? Do you use loc-tite on them?

yes, but just the left side.

this was done for added safety. i didn't want the axle unthreading while riding if a bearing seized.

after some time using Rev.2 it is apparent that this was not necessary.

R3. will not have left hand threads.

axles should always be fit with BLUE 242 LOCTITE.
