Wide Trucks

Post by Steve Adams » Mon Apr 12, 2004 11:31 pm

Hi all, this is my first post here and I'm looking for a little advice.
I recently purchased a Pocket Pistol Chicken Wing and I'm using it for bombing and carving, it's set up with Manx wheels and Indys that are around 150mm wide. Now my question I'd like some trucks that are a bit more .....well exotic, if you know what I mean. I keep reading about your offset this and 8mm that and I want some of the action but they've got to be wide. I know this may upset some of the purists out there but hey sorry.

What is the minimum width hanger that you can accept? Have you considered 150mm Randals?

Steve,
You can get custom offsets from Pocket Pistols Skates. I've made 77, 88, 101, 121, 131, 141, 151, and 181 Indy offsets. I've also done some Tracker 86, and 101 offsets. I can also match a 8 mm axle front truck to whatever size offset you choose to go with.

Well there you go Steve. You can't beat that offer. I was thinkin' that 150mm might be your minimum that you were willing to go and could not think of any offsets being made that wide.

I'd take Barret up on his offer.

Thanks Barret and Glenn, sorry I've taken so long to respond but I posted the question about a week before I moved house and have only just got round to hooking up my PC.
Barret, I take it that you're talking about hanger width? if so 151 sounds about right for the set up I want. I'll pm you and see if we can work something out.

Steve,
I really like Indy's as a front truck, tweaked a bit (longer kingpin; 1/4" to 1/2" longer, to accept full size trimmed yellow Stimulators), and the 8mm axles which Barret does.

I'm not sure if Barret puts in a longer kingpin on his trucks. But you should consider it either way. And get youreself some yellow Stimulators and trim them down to 1" o.d. keeping the full height, or either some of the soft Radikals for your front truck (Radikal bushings need to be trimmed/sanded/filed/grinded down to 1" o.d. too).

Soft high rebound urethane is the way to go for a front truck. It make them come alive. And Indy's rock fix up this way is my feeling.
Good luck.
