There's an old thread somewhere I can't seem to locate that had some good pics of a cutting tool (similar to a bicycle headset facing cutter) to shorten and/or face hangers. Anyone remember the location or know what the tool is called?
TIA

Jeff,

With disclaimer, this tool was referenced in a thread I read, and I bookmarked it:

I think it was a counterbore with a 5/16" removable pilot

I got one that was recommended by Peter Verdone (maker of the fabled PVD trucks) from MSC Industrial at www.mscdirect.com . It was item # 08790644 and cost about $36.00.

Note: Because the hole is 5/16" in diameter, it will NOT work on precision 8mm axles, which are slightly larger than 5/16". But it worked fine on all my 5/16"-axle trucks like (stock) Seismic, Tracker, Indy, Webb, etc. And boy, was it needed on most of those!

The photo on the MSC site is not very good. Here's a link to some photos I took when I did the trucks on my park board: http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c95/h ... unterbore/

If you view it slowly as a slide show, you should be able to read the captions OK.
