Hey Jeff, Doug and myself are planning on hitting the downhill section of Fountainhead around 2-3pm. He just got home from out west and he's ready to ride. He's dubious of my claims about the hidden beast @ Fountainhead. He doesn't know what he's getting into.

There's a ton of spots out that way for cyber slalom.
Any of the office parks that don't have security along Sunrise Valley are good. The path that runs along the Fairfax Co. Parkway is wide enough in that area. The office parks on both sides of Herndon Parkway between Monroe and Spring St. are good.
There's also an access road behind Sully Plantation Park that is closed to traffic.

Fountainhead
Hey BP,
Fountainhead was fun at first, then the guys told me about the downhill section and things quickly got scary. The downhill run to the water is one of the craziest sections I've ever seen. That place is a gem. How can we have a race there??

Hey, good to know there was some skating going on this past weekend. Give me a update, How was Fountianhead?
No skating for me, and I am having major withdrawals.
I have resorted to practicing kickflips and 360s in my basement.
Remember the next Outlaw race is coming up soon. Hopefully we will get a weekend like this past weekend.

Are there any places to run cones in Middleburg? Examples would be: parking lots that are empty at regular intervals, private roads/long-driveways that you could get permission to ride on, municipal parks, dead-end roads, roads that get very light usage, etc. Don’t miss the next DC outlaw race - These events are very beginner-friendly and will get you right into this aspect of skateboarding.
Polanka and I have a few places to ride out here. We have fun but need to find more people to skate with. Do you live near here?
I voted for you in the other forum. You have the coolest picture.

Jeff "Bozi" and I had an impromptu double family session at the Germantown ditch today...
Fathers running cones in the parking lot, kids doing tricks in the ditch...
I skated today in shorts and Tshirt... Beautiful for late December in DC.
Yesterday, me and Bertleboy hit Lansdowne... full report on the bulldog board

Video
Hey Guys, I finally downloaded all the video I've taken in the last 6 months and I've started editing. I'm playing around with Apple's iMovie and I'm stoked on the results so far. Can't say much about my freshman editing skills, but I think you guys will be pleased with the filming. I got some really nice shots. I'll probably film the Outlaw on the 17th if I'm in town. After that, I'll finish the editing and then get them into your grubby hands.
I might film Fountainhead today if I can find it. If anyone who knows where it's at reads this before 11:00am, call me @ 202-607-1495.

Hey Jeff, I didn't catch that you were thinking of riding Fountainhead. I went by there around 12:30 to check it out. The roads were nice and clean. Unfortunately the gates were open when I went by so I didn't stay. The mountain bikers are trained not to drive in the park but the random nice day drivers aren't.
I tried to ride Burke Lake Park but too many old people driving around there too. "It's a nice warm day...Let's go drive!? around the lake with our windows up."

Yes I say to Heather about slalom becaus my brother slalom very much long ago and he very fast. He said stories about Jani and Slalom newspaper. But I was little. Now I study English in America and work oppare in family. I now 23. I and Heather are friends. I told Heather about this sport and she now very interesting. I learn skating in 1993 but no skate too much for very long. If possible I like to come slalom too.

Van Dorn
We won't be riding at Van Dorn today. We're going to hit Normanstone in DC instead. Probably around 1pm. Anyone interested call 202-607-1495

Van Dorn
A few of us will be trying to hit Van Dorn this Sunday, if the weather is clear. It will probably be 3-4 of us riding stand-up. I don't think Bob will be there, so no streetluge this time. This is a spontaneous session, but if anyone wants to meet us, come on. Plenty of extra gear.

Roller rinks and storage bins
Jeff, most roller rinks (and dry ice skating rinks, for that matter) are actually quite small. I think most ice rinks (and roller rinks, for some odd reason) are the size of a regulation NHL hockey rink, which I believe to be 200' long x 85' wide w/ rounded corners. A full cyber slalom would leave a skater with very little run out space, although running across the rink diagonally would buy a little extra. A 20 cone course would be feasible though.
As for the storage bin... I kind of let my memories run away with me a little. Back then I was one of about ten slalom skaters that I knew of in the world, and I was always skating alone. Looking back on it though, I'd have to imagine that there was some kind of resident manager on the premises, and there's probably no way we could get away with multi-skater sessions or slalom parties. I will check the place out, next time I'm in the right neck of the woods and report back here.
