Brian,
Sure, no problem. I will compile and post up the results of the last race too if you or someone has them.

I still say the wind will NOT be an issue, at least not a detriment.

Oh, and that problem with your PC at home may be something related to AOL, or how your computer works with it. The last time I tried posting from your house, it would not let me login to SS.com. The public library that I used to post from installed a new filter/proxy and now the same thing happens there (I can read the forums, but can’t login).

Nino,
I'll go if LBK goes.

CRAP

Post by Rene Hayden » Fri Dec 03, 2004 11:11 am

Crap, I totally forgot about the race, or else I wouldn't have posted the GSL thing. My apologies.

Now I'm torn.... It's doubtful it's possible to attend both.

I hope the Gambles show up. It's sad not having them around.

Its on.....

We will start longboards around 10...

Wind will probably be an issue.

Expect a hybrid course.

I need some one to volunteer to post the race results. I am having problems with my home PC and I cant post from home. WesE can you do this. I have been really slacking on keeping everyone updated.

Thanks

Weather forcast for Saturday is looking good. Partly cloudy, with a high of 45°. Hopefully the wind on Friday will have died down by then.

Brian, is it still going on for this installment of the series?

Ohm's qualifying was CRAP!!!!
And then the CRAPSTER had the gall to take
me out in the first round :(

But seriously, though, Brian put on another hella fun
DC Outlaw race. We should all thank him endlessly for
giving us regular slalom races here in the mid-atlantic.

Dude, you can always count on a Busch Light on me........
Oh wait....nobody drinks that CRAP !!!!!!

Hey Wes, don't give up on us yet....we've had freakish upper 60's weather in January the last few years. If it's too cold though, you could always skate the Vans park with us...oh wait, Vans closes on Dec 31st. Get it while you can folks.
SE pool session @ 1:00 today with Seth, Lil' Ripper and others. Who else???

To keep this slalom related....in spite of the weather, I ate an ice cream CONE yesterday....

Well? Well? Am I a genius OR WHAT? It was bright and sunny and STILL didn't get dry til 2:00. I'm tellin' 'ya, sometimes I amazes myself!!

Arrived alive, not an eventful drive. Had fun and really liked Brian, Ohm and WesE's course. I also enjoyed winning the First Annual "P&R to I-64 Road Rally" between me and Dave and Aaron. They gave it a good shot, but sometimes there's JUST NO SUBSTITUTE FOR CUBIC INCHES!

Like I said yesterday, unless it is really really really unseasonably warm, mild and dry in December, then I'll see all of y'all next spring.

3am - The rain has cleared out and the pavement should be dry by around race time. It’s gonna be another cold headwind race though.

This race will become a regular event . . . or irregular, depending on how everyone feels about it later.

Its hard to tell, No doubt its going to be windy. So if the wind is in our faces expect a tighter course. If its at our back expect a looser course.

It is so hard to predict what the weather will be, r if the pavement will be dry. I guess it depends on when the rain stops on Friday. With 20+ mph winds I think it will dry quick.

Aaron will be back in action, Ohm, Vlad and WesE will be out so it will be a full on battle for the top spots.

Ohm’s right, a slow moving cold front will bring occasional rain on Friday but the rain is expected to end early Friday evening. The chance of rain on Saturday is only ten percent with high temps in the mid to upper forties. The winds are supposed to be from the North at fifteen to twenty miles per hour. Even if the pavement is a little damp in the morning with those kinds of winds it should dry out quickly.

This my opinion and only my opinion, you know what they say about opinions.

I think we need Wes E’s opinion, he’s always right!!

Wes T, NOAA.com says rain early on friday, saturday will be partly cloudy with a high of 44. I think it should be dry by saturday if it only rains in the am.

Your call bro. It will be cold but the racing will be HOT!

OK, time to start considering conditions on Saturday.

I asked BP this question last night and he was a little unsure of the answer, so I'll spring it on the rest of the crowd to see what y'all can tell me. The weather right now looks like rain all day Friday in Gaithersburg and then cold and cloudy Saturday.

Here's my question: if it is cloudy and damp on Saturday, WILL THE PAVEMENT DRY OUT? Don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy coming up to DC for the races, but driving a thousand miles to stand around all afternoon waiting for slippery asphalt to clear up is not my idea of a fun trip.

Being a true deep southerner, I am unfamiliar with the ways of winter roads up north. Will a day's worth of downpour drain and dry out over night with little or no sun on Saturday morning? Also, if the forecast is correct, I can guess it will be rather mild with little or no breeze. It's hard to be cloudy and windy at the same time. That's even more reason to wonder about conditions on Saturday.

Anybody willing to step up to the plate and give me a heads up as to what to expect?

Thanks.

I can't believe any of you are complaining about this! You know how far I live from the park and ride??? do you?!? FIVE MILES!! Do you know what time I have to get up?? 9:30 Do you know what thats like?!? (I swear to god if these races were any more convenient, I would have to kill myself) I'm excited to see everyone, and probably meet more people considerign I've only been to three races...
