Hey DC slackers - please head north on the 23rd for the first race of the 2006 Farm Outlaw series. Specific info will be posted soon.

Is it really dead?

Get on it. See you next Sunday.

Southeastern Slalom Series Race# 4 - Winston Salem NC, 04/22

Post by Wesley Tucker » Thu Apr 06, 2006 3:00 pm

You Outlaws need to check your calendar and gas tank and head on down to Winston Salem in two weeks. Stop complaining about the death of DC slalom and hit the road. I got an e-mail from BP who said he can't make it because April 22nd is the weekend he and the lovely missus are going to Jamaica. Sometimes, life is just too hard.

http://www.ncdsa.com/contest_registrati ... testID=238

It's about five hours from most points in NoVa. We have a primo spot. Imagine the P&R only twice as long, wider and better ashpalt. Check out the Contest Calendar, get in your cars, quit moaning and start racing!

Oh, we're gonna have a Longboard Slalom race, too. How long since that happened in DC? Tell LBK to be there or be elsewhere.

Dublin Georgia Race, January 15 . . . Three-Day Weekend!!

Post by Wesley Tucker » Sun Jan 08, 2006 2:32 am

Well, in all seriousness, Aaron's post made me realize somthing.

Ga. Tom's race in Dublin, Georgia is Sunday, January 15th. Sunday is kind of a bummer because it means you have to travel Sunday night to get home in time for work and school . . .

EXCEPT

Monday, January 16th is MARTIN LUTHER KING'S BIRTHDAY. That means it's a holiday. You can stay over Sunday night in Dublin or Savannah or Atlanta or wherever and drive home Monday.

C'mon down. It's an Outlaw Race, but The King Of Georgia is getting swag for prizes and the course and venue are absolutely PRIMO. The weather promises to be fabulous and warm and the only drawback is, well, it's a few hundred miles away.

But you know you're not getting any sympathy OUT OF ME for that excuse!

HAd a good fountainhead session today and had 6 people and a great video of a crash.

The one closest to the camera, Nick, got a pretty bad cut on his knee and Chris, the first one to crash just had some road rash.

Ohm, how was Fountainhead?? I tried to get Dupin to head down but he wanted to hit Rock Creek. Unwisely, we took off from the top without giving it a look, passed a jogger who looked horrified and pointed down the hill, knew it couldn't be good, and yep, water and ice at the first turn. I left a leather body imprint on the road and watched as Doug made the first section by hugging the curb, then slamming hard before the ice covered bridge.
Moving slow today. I must say, the view at the take-off almost made it worth it.

Is it spring yet??

JD, glad you had fun on your birthday. That really was a cool party.

Flis, you guys are definitely FC worthy. Sounds like good skate music. Uh, but you guys lose a bunch of credibility if your parents won't even let you play gigs. LIE TO THEM!!! Tell them it's something at school......just kidding, don't lie to your folks. PERSUADE THEM!! All parents are invited. Just don't tell them we're drinking Absinthe.

We'll have an outlaw downhill in January. I'm pushing to make a race in Brazil on Jan 15th. Maybe the week before that.

If you guys want to hear a rough mix of a song thats coming off our demo check us out at www.myspace.com/melodicequinox I want to play fightclub so badly and so does my bassist but my two guitarist are a little sketched about our parents letting us do it (mine would be cool with it as long as they come) and Tim didnt know about the crowd but they dont know all you fools the way I do so I will widdle em down oh yes i will...

If it's not rescheduled then maybe just maybe after the holidays are done and everyones sobered up enough we'll throw something at fountainhead to get everyones blood above freezing again doesnt have to be backwoods blast we could call it whatever we want but I mean we gotta throw something down there while the hill is open and calling our wheels. I WANNA SEE WHO ENDS UP IN THE WATER!

Wow, the best birthday bash I've encountered. People from everywhere including Olson & O'Shei......downhillers, slalom enthusiasts, skatepark activists, DC Outlaws, Newschoolers, Old schoolers, pool skaters, street skaters, longboarders and shortboarders, good beer drinkers and straight-edgers.....even Ian MacKaye showed up..........cool art by Olson, rad Fight Club bowl session, impromptu awesome flatland trick session....every trick in the book was thrown by the diverse skate crowd...a lot of fun was displayed....lots of new inductees into Team Fun...t'was great skating w/you all. Thanks Dan & Alleykat for putting it on.....thanks to those who contributed to the Surfrider Foundation fundraising efforts....thanks WesE for coming out as well. People were dizzy watching John O spin all those 360s...also nice Ho-Ho's by Ben H and Jason(G.Biersch). I had the best time, especially the street session w/the spinning keg. Nice idea, Ashworth! Lots of great memories, plus THE POINTS playing live....awesome tunes!! Flis, we've got to book you @ Fight Club next time! It's snowing outside again.....Peace!

Sorry, no plans for rescheduling the Backwoods Blast for this year. Although, this Saturday may be a good time to session the hill anyway. All depends on the weather again. If there is no snow today or Friday then I say we session around 11am.

Sorry for the delay Flis. It's been a long weekend. With Olson and O'Shei around, M-T-W counts as the weekend. Ouch!!

Party was a blast. All the regular fools, plus a few others.
Spontaneous flatland session ruled with Dillon slaying the crowd with stylish daffies. Jaime's floor roll was a crowd pleaser as well as O'Shei's 15 rotation 360's

Advice: If anyone offers you real Absinthe, take a pass

I'm not sure when we'll try to have a race. I'll follow Ohm's lead

How was the show?? You guys kick ass??

The DHB/GASS contingency has regretfully decided NOT to make the trip to DC based on the potential that the Fountain Head course may not be clear by tomorrow. We will look toward getting up with you guys at another DC session later in the Winter.

Also, any of you that want to come down and ride with us are welcome! We will be looking to do a Jam in January. Date to be determined next week.

Hope you guys get to ride. Talk to you soon.

Weather Report For Sk8sville, North Carolina:

WORLD DHB Headquarters is reporting things better than expected. The ice that was all around last night is melting fast and roads are wet but clear. Idiots in Charlotte are still piling cars up like stacks of wood but that is the way they Roll down there. Should be a good drive into Sk8sville from the South.

We should be able to ride tonight at Camperworld if we don't decide to risk the trip to DC.

Danny,
If weather cooperates and this happens, go ahead and bring your project. Let's also see some other variables added, such as the trajectory that Smallwood needs to clear the river bank.

North Carolina Weather Update from DHB World Headquarters in Sk8sville:

Dudes, for those of you traveling here from Georgia or South Carolina tomorrow, come later in the day than you planned. It is now 9:45 pm and looking out my window down on to the streets of Beautiful Downtown Sk8sville (yes, I am still at the office) I am observing FREEZING FREAKIN RAIN! (Gawd, I hate that crap!)....All the idiots in Charlotte can NOT Freakin drive! Seriously! Every time it just rains, not freezes, I-77 becomes a war zone...add ice and its ROLLER BALL ALLEY.

Look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow.

Snow, Ice, Sleet, Rain, one of these are definate. As far as accumulation and the possibility of a clear hill cannot be estimated at this time. I will post a Friday AM damage report but probably won't see the hill until Saturday AM.

WesT and friends I don't know what to tell you. If we can we will skate.

Hey, I'm doing a science fair project on how fast different tucks are so would it be alright if I set up a speed trap with chalk near the bottom of the hill so I can get speeds?

Oh, and anybody wanna run the course for me in the different tucks? You just have to go down the hill off a plastic ramp in the tuck.

Did a check this weekend on the hill. Had to rake an S-Load of leaves. Not a soul in sight but a few mountain bikers. Bust factor is minimal.

Snow is falling now but will be gone by Saturday. Thursday I will make the call for the travelers but the forecast is sunny and mid thirties.

Jeff Bos, call me. I need to use your cones if you are not coming.

Cabbage, running the downhill in the rain would be asking for it. You don't want to come out of your line. You'd be better off just standing on the guardrail and diving out into the water. Save your bearings from getting wet and avoid the possibility of t-boning one of the many thick posts on your way down.
But I like the way you think.

Gilbert, Olson will be in town Dec 7-10. I'm sure we'll have a few Fight Club sessions. Party is 8pm til ????

Yeah,

But legend has it that Tom did it paralell that's why his lover dumped him. I hear that they also tied his feet together with the extra rope. Beware of Statesville WT.......

Tom Dooley would have been a great slalom skateboarder . . . he too was hung.

Or is it "hanged?"

Me and my conjugation.

Wow, that cool! Maybe you should change the name of your race to the Tom Dooley classic.

Wilkes County is also the home of Junior Johnson and Doc Watson.

As I have said before, this angle at the Dixie Cup Pumpcone Fest is the coolest photo op! Love that old court house in the background! Mike you look cool riding there!

For you history/folk song buffs (if there are any), that court house location (different building) was the site of the trial of Tom Dula (pronounced Dooley) that was immortalized in the folk song "Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley" by the Kingston Trio. The trial was moved from Wilkes County north of Statesville to here because of pre-trial publicity. In 1868 Tom Dula was found quilty of killing his former lover and was hanged on Depot Hill in Statesville (the site where we had the Dixie Cup Saturday Night's awards party!). Our Saturday race was at the site he was tried and the party that night was where the gallows sat for his hanging! Welcome to Historic Downtown Statesville!

See you guys on the 10th.

I've seen gas in Roanoke at $1.87 just a week ago.
