I out to went to see my brothers park.He made it sound real good but it ws a bust. Flat as a pancake. He gave me some and dance that it was the only park in Loudon County that we could ride in and how much extra work it it would make for him.

Soapbox racers would be a great group to get involved. I think the hill is technically owned by Virginia Power (it's right behind the tennis courts). But they've had a VW/Sobe sponsored mountain bike race that used the hill. The park is so diverse in it's activities (all the typical health club stuff to art classes and a photo darkroom, plus sports fields) it seems they would be open to something new.
I found a killer spot to hold a big race if it could be closed. Turkey Run Park off the GW Parkway has a sweet hill with a nice runout. Its attached to the US Park Police headquarters so it could be 50/50 on getting them to close the road. (Police use a separate entrance)
Another cool thing I came across is you can get a special use permit to hold an event at most Fairfax County parks and they have 8 historic parks that can be rented weddings/parties. We just have to do some scouting. (Unfortunately Occoquan and Fountainhead are regional parks.)

I got an email from sk8shop.com that linked to pics of a new Vegas park. http://sk8shop.com/new/stories/theanthem/
The builders, Site Design, are also building the new Wakefield Park skatepark right off the Beltway at Braddock Rd in Fairfax. It could be a killer park looking at the stuff they've created.
The interesting part could be the opportunity to get a paved section of the actual Park (not skatepark) dedicated to slalom. There is a nice hill near the skatepark site that is used for mountain biking and bmx. The hill is very wide and a paved section wouldn't distrupt the bike trails that mainly run through the woods and the edge of this hill.
Here's what the 'master plan' on the Fairfax County Parks website...
# Skate Park
A skate park of up to 25,000 sq. ft. in size should be developed in the area of the existing shuffleboard/horseshoe courts (that will be removed) or the existing grassed area behind the RECenter. An exact location will be determined during the detail design phase of the project. The surface of the park should be concrete. The skate park should be fenced with 10 ft. high black vinyl chain link for security and should be lighted to allow night time use. Spectator seating should be included with construction of this facility. Other small-scale outdoor youth/teen oriented facilities could be co-located with the skate park and provide additional activities for this age group. The area that is currently the horseshoe court area could be utilized for this function if space is available after the skate facilities are built, and taking into consideration the intensity of uses in the immediate area.
The 'teen oriented' facilities are for 18-19 year old chicks. It's my new dating service.
