I wanted to drop a line and say it was great to meet all you guys this weekend. Soon I'll have to make the trek to DC and check out your scene. Tonight, Jenny and I made the trip to Blockbuster and am planning on some serious vegging out.

You guys may be proud of me. I ended up actually teaching today instead of declaring it a "worksheet day." That's dedication to education. LOL

DC won WV!

I can’t say anything negative about the race. Except for, well, maybe that the pavement was rather average. No a flow in organizing and running the show. Dave Gale and his guys did a great job.

Dillon’s the best on the mike.

For anyone that is planning on staying at the DC cabin. Here is the directions. I will not get there until late tonight so the keys should be left under the mat. If anyone asks the reservations are in my name.

From the North: Take Rt. 19 across the New River Gorge Bridge and then turn left at the first stoplight. (You should see Tudor's Biscuit World on your left.) Then go thorough Fayetteville (Two stoplights) Look for a carwash on your right and turn left up the hill onto Gatewood road. Follow Gatewood road app. 5 miles to Cunard River Access Road. We are on the corner.

From the South: Take Rt. 19 to the Oak Hill Main Street Exit. Turn right at the top of the hill then turn right onto Salem Gatewood Rd. ( Approximately 20 miles from Rt. 19. There will be a Mini Taco Bell and 7 - 11 on Corner.) Follow Salem-Gatewood Road to the Cunard River Access Road. We are on the Corner.

It’s too bad you won’t be there, Cabbage. One thing though, I don’t know how the weekend will be this year without the diversion of the Old School House (it burned down). Good luck with the new house.
Races are always more fun with cabbage.

For people concerned about trouble Saturday getting around the closed-off bridge: The bridge is only on the way to Fayetteville if you take the windey, dangerous, “backwoods” road known as route 60. I’d rather not take that road anyway, even if the bridge were open. I-64 to Beckley and then route 19-N is a longer distance to Fayetteville, but it takes about the same amount of time and probably uses the same amount of gas because it’s a much easier drive.

Addendem: That info was strictly for people coming on I-64-W from the east (DC, Virginia, and such). The Bridge is just north of Fayetteville. Bring a map if I'm not riding with you.

Man super bummed Tori and I can't make it this year. As you know we have a lot going on close to home with the new home, new baby, new life kinda thing going on, not to mention I commited to a 2 day sk8 camp in OC with Matt Dove, and the family can really use the $$$$$$ so duty calls, man I haven't even been to OC this past summer ok sorry guys, have fun

I think it is about 4 1/2-5 hours. I am planning on leaving on Friday afternoon so I get there in time to watch the freaks jump off the bridge.

If you plan on getting there on Saturday the brige is closed so make sure you have a good map of the area. You may have to take a detour through the "deep woods" to get to the other side of the river.

Dave G, correct me if I'm wrong, but ze bridge is not where ze race is. Ze race is in ze town of Fayetteville on a regular old street. Ze bridge is just for ze crazy people to base-jump off of. So, for the race, there are no expansion joints, just creaky knee and ankle joints from some of those involved.

Per Mr, Gale.

The race in WV will be a rain or shine event. October is historically dry, but in the case of rain the race will go as planned.

I raced last year in the rain and it was no problem to keep control. You just needed to hold back on the pump and try to get the best roll. I used Avalons last year, Avilias would be good or the new Gumballs. Something that will carry a lot of rolling speed is probably best. Big longboard wheels.

Hopefully it will be dry but if it does rain still expect a killer event.

Hey guys I booked the cabin. It is in Fayetteville about 5 miles from the race site. It will sleep 8 comfortably, 10 uncomfortably. It will work out to about $25 a night per person.

I only got the room for Friday and Saturday night assuming that most of us would be leaving on Sunday to get back to work Monday morning. If need be we can probably get Sunday night.
