There's an interesting story behind the tall tiles at Olney. Apparently the drain at the bottom of the deep end was too high. When the builder built up from the drain level, the resulting pool had no vert. One of the local advocates caught it in time, and the builder essentially raised the deck level, and extended the tile. The result is a lot of vert, a wide swath of tile, and a deathbox capable of swallowing small groms. (seen in the background of the "rock" picture.)

Its a fun park, but the rules/fees/hours are pretty whacked, so I'll probably be driving to Greenbelt more often...

Loving the "tall" tiles at Olney. That'd sound really cool on a long carve.

Heh... yeah, pretty bad photos. I'll try and fix that when we get a chance to skate there.

If you like deep, round uncluttered bowls, with new pool coping, check these photos (new crete, Olney, MD) :

Worst photos ever! :-) But despite the "grandma can't use a camera" quality, I'm seeing two things that look really tasty: new pool coping, and a deep round bowl without a lot of weird crap getting in the way. Envy is setting in.

No pics yet...

Here's some from the Greenbelt site:

Park is free, but you've gotta register. Website says you can register Mon-Sat. Kook on the phone last weekend told me M-F.

I dunno... will get some pics soon.
