DC Winter Sessions - Fountainhead

Post by Brian Parsons » Mon Nov 08, 2010 8:44 pm

It appears that Fountainhead is closing for the winter on December 1 and re-opens on March 1st.

Weather permitting stay tuned for outlaw session announcements.

Some of my most memorable sessions were in the dead of winter at P&R and Fountianhead…..attempting again to resurrect the simpler more positive days of slalom racing.

Are there any Outlaws left in the slalom world?

I've already told Karr he's been volunteered to make a midnight ride to Occaquan to FINALLY ride that back hill.

So Close!

Post by T Whalen » Tue Nov 09, 2010 2:46 am

A couple of winters ago driving down to South Carolina I had to get off I95 due to heavy traffic and by chance had dinner on the river in Occoquan. I didn't realize I was so close to such an awesome skate spot until talking with Earl Cephas the following slalom season about VA SK8 spots.

I'll have to keep that I mind if I head down south again for vacation this year.

Keep the outlaw spirit alive!

Terry

A$$Hole.....seemed simple enough...

Maybe we should leave the last two letters as XX....that way you can insert whatever derogatory term you would like....

I call for a VOTE.......the biggest AH wins.....

With all the banter...just trying to lighten up this site a little.

If I have offended anyone....well....you know where you can find me. We will settle it with an AXE fight through red Turner cones....bring it!

Figured but was trying to be sure.

Never bring a knife to a gun fight but your chances are better if you bring an Axe to a cone fight!!!

I'm there! I don't have a proper board for this thing anymore but if you're doing GS I might be able to just put a 50 plate up front on my downhill board and work it on a 26" wheel base huh? Jan. 8th I'm having a slide jam/slope style back there. Stoked to see you guys again! Thanks for the heads up Neil!

Yesterday about 3:00 I was debating, "do I go? Do I not go? Do I go?"

So glad I paid attention to the weather. I'd be up to my door handles right now in freezing rain and snow before I got home.

post up as soon as you come up with the new date, I'd like to make a flier and put it on beast coast and spread it around a little to see what kind of turn out we can get. Damn I haven't run cones in forever, I don't know if I remember how...

Anyone out there doing practice or racing this winter? Son is in town next week and we want to skate. I still don't know how to run cones, but my kid does.

Anyone skating in the winter?

Ohm,

I can't quite interpret your post.

Are you saying Fountainhead is gone forever or just not an option for a formal sanctioned event?

In other words are outlaws in the offseason still a go or a no go?

..stepped away for a minute.

Yeah, I'm back around after spending time traveling to Russia, Guatemala, Colombia, El Salvador...all the vacation hotspots.

It should be stated that DC street skating legend Brian Tucci, wants to host a slalom race in DC this summer.
Nothing major, just something low-key and fun. He'd bring a ton of riders to compete, though most would probably be on street decks with little hard wheels. Oh well, could introduce newbies to slalom and maybe get some riders interested in real equipment.

Any interest, let me know and I'll pass it on.

Joe: What's up my Italian skate brother?

Wesley: Smart money!

Anthony,

I'm sitting in the Residence Inn in National Harbor right now. Totally non-skate reason to be in town since Tuesday. Going home in the morning.

This is just to let you know that yes, I can still find my way up I-95!
