If anybody lives in the Springfield or burke area there is a VRE P&R on Old Keene Mill rd. About a mile and a half west of Rolling rd its sandy but I think its got hope. There were two cops there they said Fairfax county cops would't bother us .It was not in there jurisdiction. It's up to the VRE to patrol there and they seemed think they would't bother anyone on the weekends.

I still think you guys should check out Oakwood off Van Dorn St. It's smooth and has a steep pitch at the top, but a course could be set towards the bottom. We used to train for downhill there and never had any problems as no one lives there. One time a cop pulled up, saw how serious we were about training and wearing safety gear, and simply said "have fun and watch out for each other" then split. In Virginia, of all places! Check it out.

I noticed that too. The pitch doesn't look as good as the other park and ride?

I've found a parking lot off Columbia Pike overlooking the Pentagon that is steeper than the old p&r. It could be a nice spot.

Geezer,

Be sure to take a broom and a blower. New asphalt usually involves lots of marbles and debris. SOMETIMES the contractor is conscientious enough to use one of those tractors with the spinning broom on front to clean up, but rarely do they run those in a parking lot or closed space.

I've always found that fresh, brand spanking new pavement works best after a good frog-strangling rain storm has had a chance to wash it down a bit.

In the middle of the exit ramp off of 270 to clopper road, an the way to the old park and ride, is being paved as we speak. It looks pretty interesting, I think some cool course options are possible. I hope to deflower this perfet virginal pavement tomorrow after work...
