ISSA - International Slalom Skateboarding Association

The ones from the USA were used for making porcelin fixtures like sinks toilets bathubs etc. They were "slip funnels" which were used to protect the mouths of the porcelin molds- the abrasive raw materials would wear away at the polyethylene plastic instead of the molds mouth.

Specialty molders, Fountainvale? sold them in Cali then Ingla Rubber products Bellflower-Cali. There were also 1/2 thick walled rubber cones as well!


These production processes continued for some time- but recently I can't find anymore production of this type of molding in the USA subsequently- there was no demand.

Who knows....perhaps someday some porcelin molder will call Gesmer for some new "slip funnels".

The root of slalom lies not in the cones but in the turning and pumping of a skateboard. And even if so the roots would rather then be the small pebbles that where probably used in the first early attempts. And where did they all come from? Pebble beach?

Did you guys know that the cones we are currently using for skateboarding are originally invented by a german engineer called Ewald Kongsbak in 1952 ?
The companies name is www.intercone-plastics.de.
They are producing the cone in France for about 30 years.

Sounds like the roots of slalomskateboarding are in Europe ?
