The ones from the USA were used for making porcelin fixtures like sinks toilets bathubs etc. They were "slip funnels" which were used to protect the mouths of the porcelin molds- the abrasive raw materials would wear away at the polyethylene plastic instead of the molds mouth.
Specialty molders, Fountainvale? sold them in Cali then Ingla Rubber products Bellflower-Cali. There were also 1/2 thick walled rubber cones as well!
These production processes continued for some time- but recently I can't find anymore production of this type of molding in the USA subsequently- there was no demand.
Who knows....perhaps someday some porcelin molder will call Gesmer for some new "slip funnels".
