I ski and ride a softboot sb, so i already have ski boots and a snowboard. does anyone have any bindings that would fit a 27.5 size skiboot that they'd sell for about $100 so i can try it out? (dont want anything fancy)

I agree with JG, keep the step-in...bails are evil, period.

Only CMC can ride bails like he does...freak!

Conflict...CMC says lose the step in.
JG says keep the step in.

What do I do, who do I listen to!!!

Lets see, JG usually favors highly complicated , expensive gagets. His style on a skateboard is also complex. Form must be perfect to be effective. JG loves cutting edge stuff especially if it goes fast. Image is everything.

CMC is more of a knock around kind of guy. He drives high milage VW rust buckets which he could fix in a pinch and he rides 100 plus days a year. Some say he is the best carver on a snowboard in the east. Simpler is better.

what would vlad do.what would kenny do?

remove two bolts- screw in teh new assembly.

Stick with the step in- you can loosen the front bail if you want slop.

Tk, the Volkl will be ok for now. Get rid of the step ins and convert them to rear bails. The rear bails will allow slightly more play than the step in interface. This minuute amount of play will allow you to tweak and extend more so than what the step in will allow. There main design was to add convenience. It aint no more convenient. When you come to ride, more boards should be available for you to try. Dont get the boots on your own.

I ended up with a 03' Volkl RennTiger 168 with a 19cm waist amd Catek step ins. My big bad Hardboot Hero CMC couldnt score me a board .Finding alpine stuff is like finding slalom stuff 3 years ago. I must be a masochist.

Buy good boots- no way around it. Hit bomberonline.com classified. If you can stand the stink- best place to find size 9 in good shape is to srop an email to CVA Carrabassett Valley Academy at sugarloaf and at Stratton Mountain School SMS and see which highschool kids outgrew their size 9's last year. $50 should net you a pair.

While we're on the subject...
I need a pair of size 9 boots.
Condition is not important as I am a geek who does'nt deserve anything nice.
Some worn out hand me downs would be just fine. I could use my own ski or snowboard boot liners in them thus avoiding having to place my feet where yours have been.
I will pay cash for your trash.
A tiger on the top?? Cool.
Mine is all white with silver edges and stuff. Neato.
JG, I tried to call you but I get someone elses voice mail.

TK ... I've told you a TON of times...

bindngs: Cateks (I prefer Bombers but since youa re new you want the adjustability....cateks are the PVDs of alpine)

boots: HEAD by far if you can find them, if not Raichles will do

Board: Donek Freecarve 19.5 waist/170ish length/11m+ sidecut, or a Coiler in the same spec...Nideker and Oxygen make decent "off the shelf" decks with dimensions around the above.

write that down this time.

TK i'd talk to Martin Drayton. martindrayton@yahoo.co.uk

Based in Park City in the winter, he has gear and/or advice. Don't try to race him (nastar champ!) as I broke my ankle the last time. What was really bad is having the blood wagon pass through the timing beam making my time around about 15 mins against his 7.4 seconds.

The snow is still excellent- like early march/ late february snow- you should make the trip up here.

Stratton has 10 lift tickets this week for employees friends _curt can wangle a few extras.
Also free skiing at stratton Easter Sunday if you are in a head to toe costume- also $1 skiing at all the American Ski resorts (Attitash, Mt. Snow, Sugarbush, Sugarloaf, Sunday River, Pico, Killington, Haystack) April 1.
