The race on July 27 is a benefit for the "Skate Across America for Lowe Syndrome".

The following weekend, Aug 2, several skaters are starting out in Newport Oregon for a 3000 mile trek to raise money for the Lowe Syndrome Association.

Participants in the race will be asked to give a generous donation in lieu of an entry fee.

So come on out, have some fun racing, and give to a good cause.

A big thanks to Dan Loveland of Daddies Boardshop for being the race coordinator and getting this race going.

-- Pat

The location of the race is at the park-and-ride at the NE corner of I5 at exit 7. Right down the street from WSU.

We had a wonderful day of racing on July 27.

We ran a 40-cone slalom. The big winner for the day is the Lowe Syndrome Foundation, which will receive a $525 donation thanks to the generosity of the racers.

We ran a ladder system instead of the normal elimination brackets. This allowed all racers to get in 8 runs (2 qualifying runs, 6 final runs).

Consistency and conservative racing was the winning combination. The course threw DQ's at a number of racers. The fastest racers did not always finish the course.

In the end the placings were:

Racer Name Place Fastest Time
Michael Dong 1 14.131
Gareth Roe 2 15.625
Pat Chewning 3 15.848
Dave Anderson 4 16.249
Paul Howard 5 15.843
John Stryker 6 16.157
Corey Moy 7 15.799
Robin Mcguirk 8 19.241
Mark Sellman 9 18.781
Brett Dooley 10 22.192
JT 11 16.909
Thor Janda 12 19.782
Dan Loveland 13 15.986
MikeChristopher 14 19.564
James Peters 15 22.006
Matias Moore 16 23.136
Sarah Loveland 17 18.103
Ian Roe 17 23.696
Dave Mitchell 19 17.266
Carey Rich 20 21.786
Joe Beck 21 22.508
Darrin Moy 22 20.028
Wayno 23 19.266
Hayden Woodard 24 21.972

A big THANK YOU to:

-- Dan Loveland and the crew from Daddies Board shop for setting up the race, donating raffle prizes, and getting racing-number bibs.

-- Melanie Loveland (Daddies Board Shop) for being the chief cone counter and DQ official.

-- Gareth Roe and family for providing the timing equipment and for keeping track of times, cones, placings, etc.

-- And all the racers who helped sweep the course, set up the cones, coneheading, clean up, etc.
