On Nov 7,8,or 9th (depends on the weather) in Portland Oregon we will be having a race at night under the full moon. We will probably put some glow sticks on the cones, and perhaps on our boards too. It might make for nice photos. If you've raced at night and have some suggestions, please send them my way. Now, what to call it? "Night Slalom" "Dark Slalom" "Street Skateboard Slalom in the Dark" "Full Moon Slalom" "Twilight Tight" "Slalom under the Stars" ???

It should be a simple afair, I'm thinking only a single-lane slalom.

Slaloming at night, I suggest:

1. Find a spot that’s lit if you don’t already have one.
2. Know your spot.
3. If you ever decide to run dual lane, use only white and/or orange cones. The “Red cones” are significantly harder to see under night time outdoor anbient light.
4. Have a backup spot, in case you get run out by Officer Intolerance.

Pat we had no trouble with racing at night at Luna Slalom Jam in Mississippi last April. We did, although, use three of the big construction lights to light the hill. We thought about the lighted cones but just never tried that out and the extra cost of around 100 glow sticks made us put that on the back burner. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes.

Flux lighted riser pads are great for night racing.

The term is in fact "Luna Slalom" ;)
