2005 Slalom Season

Post by Gareth Roe » Tue Feb 22, 2005 5:57 am

Who is interested in running cones this weekend at North Seattle Community College?

As of right now, the weather is suppose to be clear and dry on Sunday. So, lets dust of the cones and have a good time.

I'll be there at 11:30 to sweep the hill and set some course. We've got some new toys to test out and I'm itching to race.

E-mail me at info@roeslalom.com if you want more details.

Hope to see you there!
Gareth

The People's Slalom

Post by Paul Howard » Fri Mar 25, 2005 6:41 am

Just a reminder that Cascade Slalom Collective, I mean Assoc will be having the season opening event BBQ Slalom, and Jam Format not-too-serious race April 10th in Salem at Bush Park's Soap Box Derby Hill. Take I-5 to Hwy 22 West which becomes Mission Street for 2.7 miles west of the I-5 then look to the left and there it is beside the big track stadium. You can also check out more details on www.ncdsa.com 's "contest calender". This is an all level type of event, and one of the best things for beginners to get in on. Thanks-Paul

Yesterday it rained all day, and this morning was cloudy, so the street was not fully dried out. We found a path to set a single lane race that was dry enough.
We ran jam format, then anounced times and let the racers get in a couple more runs before shutting down just as it started raining around 2pm.

Dave Mitchell set an easy-to-make course, with a good variation in offsets and cone spacings. We had a lot of new faces at this race, so the course was a good one for new racers.

We missed Roe, Dong, Pauliwog, and the crew from Daddies Board Shop.

Next race is Seattle in May!

1. Josh Burt 21.2158
2. Cory Moy 21.4759
3. John Stryker 21.5679
4. Dan Hughes 21.9679
5. Dave Anderson 21.9838
6. Alex 22.479
7. Pat Chewning 22.6399
8. Aaron Burks 22.6878
9. Carey 23.0558
10.Darren Moy 23.1079
11.Scott Moore 23.1158
12.Dave Mitchell 23.3319
13.Matt French 24.0521
14.THOR 24.5439
15.Devon 26.9279
16.Sevrin Moore 28.0038

CSA #3 - 5/22/05 - Mukilteo, WA

Post by Gareth Roe » Mon May 23, 2005 9:35 am

We had a great day of racing despite the rain showers that tried to shut us down early. Brad Kasha traveled all the way down from Calgary to race with us. Watch out Claude, this Canadian is fast and is gunning for you! Special thanks to all the Oregon guys for making the long trek north.

We used a jam format to ensure that everyone got a time before the rains came. A racer's two fastest times were combined to come up with the over-all placings. The course was a semi-tight, 38 cone course that was set by about 6 different people.

1 - Paul Howard - 27.637
2 - Dan Hughes - 29.344

Special Thanks to Northwest Snowboards and Morning Wood Skateboards for the great prizes. And to Lou Caretelli at the Mukiteo Family YMCA for making this all possible.

After the ramps were torn down and all the cones were put away, we had a great park session. See you guys all in a couple of weeks in Salem, Oregon.

Mukilteo Race

Post by Paul Howard » Sat May 28, 2005 9:10 pm

Hey, I had a great time despite the rain interruptions. GARETH - What times did you get? You did'nt post your times, did I really win (or did you, T/S is YOUR game man!) or are you just giving me that win so I'll be lulled into a false sense of security for Hood River so you can take it? That was a fun race and park session, Thanks Again to everyone for showing up, racing and making it happen, thanks to John Stryker for toting the start ramps, Thanks to Brad Kasha for the distance travelled, and Corey Moy for the accomodations and most of all to Gareth for putting the whole thing on. Adios-Paul
