I went into the paypal site and I could not find where to paypal Conderate Money. Should I just send a "Lucy Pickens" $100.00 CSA bill instead? Do you accept Yankee money?

Please advise.
I am the slowest COSS slalom racer..Lucky for you!

::::PLEASE READ::::

For racers on the list that are unable to attend the
Dixie Cup, and racers that will be there but have not
paid their registration fee yet.

We have 71 people signed up for the Dixie Cup this
year (give or take 1 or 2 fictional characters). We
need to get an idea of how many people will actually
be attending the event.

If you are signed up and will not be making it this year,
please delete you name from the NCDSA Contest Calendar.
You can also contact the DHB at cletus@downhillbillies.org,
and karr.mobile@execquest.com to have your name removed from
the list. This would help us to not over-order on T-Shirts,food,
and other items for so many people.

Please let us know by 11:59pm Monday-10-20 if you are NOT
going to make it. Also, if you have not yet paid and will
definitely be showing up, let us know by the date/time
above, as you will not be guaranteed to receive a shirt,
and the food may be limited as well.

Thanks

2 more weeks til Dixie ... bring it!

Thanks to all the DHBs for their hard, hard work to pull this event off. I remember very few delays and little or no griping about anything from anyone--always a pleasure. The racing was very competitive, with exciting battles between Joe McLaren and Pappasino, Karl Floitgraf and Justin Collins, and Joe I and Michael Peck in the hybrid and Mitchell and Fadell in the GS. The 8' high GS start ramps only claimed a couple of victims, and those people only lost a little skin. The Friday night hybrid was fun and fast--and freezing--which of course didn't prevent George from taking two runs without his shirt. DHBs Mr. Surly and SST made the podium in the hybrid. Evan St. Clair and I had a GS run that went turn for turn on the mirrored courses, so close on the "in" gates that we almost could have high-fived each other. It would have been great to see how the second run turned out, but Evan re-aggravated a muscle injury after the third or fourth cone and had to back off. But we both agreed that our first one was probably the most exciting race either of us had ever had.

I hung out with Pappasino and Ramón most of the weekend and had great times with Chris Pappas, Mig, Civ and Shasta too. At the grocery store, Ramón was fascinated and perplexed by the gallon jar of pickled pig's feet and by the Little Debbie "Swiss Rolls"--which of course soon morphed into a poop joke. Ramón also got his first taste of real Mexican food and had his first experience of American Halloween celebrations. Cat got him a nerd costume and a black mullet wig and porn-star mustache.

As always, there's way too much to say and not enough space or time to say it. So I'll let my photos do some of the talking. Check them out at http://picasaweb.google.com/jbh123 . For best results, click on Slideshow (upper left part of screen) and page through them one by one--unless you don't care about my clever captions, in which case, just go ahead and whiz through them at whatever speed you deem appropriate.

Once again, a BIG thanks to all the DHBs, to my fellow "IHOS" residents, and to the owners of the IHOS for making it available.

Dixie Cup 2008 Random Shout Outs And Memories

Over the week I have tried to recover and also manage the re-entry into my real life as an executive recruiter/wireless internet based video survelliance system business development director/ property manager-historic rehab person/church volunteer/father/husband (well she might argue with that one)/soccer coach but have a hard time of it. I am like that satellite that has lost its orbit and is bouncing off of the atmosphere an is close to just blowing into a million fiery pieces so I have just had to put down thoughts as they came to me. So below are my random and I mean RANDOM bouncing off of the atmosphere thoughts and shoutouts from this year’s Dixie Cup:

THANK YOU to all of the Spouses, Girlfriends, Family, Children, Co-Workers, and Friends of the DHB
Without your support we the DHB could not take so much time away from you and our “real life” to put these events together. Thank You.

The DHB Core Leadership (Jaybird, Rookie, Surly, Punk Brent, SST, Dholt, The Saint, Mark Nix)>
Dudes, you are all my brothers and you all jumped in and worked hard to make this years Dixie Cup one of the best yet! It is ALWAYS a GROUP EFFORT it is ALWAYS THE CORE! (It’s hard to top 2005 but man this one came close!)

Dan Gesmer and Seismic
Once again Dan, Thank you for coming, taking time out of your busy schedule to sit under the tent with Brent for 3 Days!!!! Thanks so much for all you do for the sport and for the DHB!

Late Night Widow Maker And Death Trap Ramp Building Sessions At The Warehouse:
Lots of hard work, jumbo half gallon teas from KFC (“my sip”), almost as many guns as Hollien carries on any given day, arguments, Evan’s cad drawings, painting with that Poor Little Feller Hodges God bless him, FIREWORKS!, real fireworks that sounded like a oncoming drive by/gun battle (sorry Hodges but I did chamber a round), encounter with the tobacco chewing refuge from a civil war documentary, and seeing The Saint, Nix, SST hanging from the rafters to come off of the ramp for the first time and almost going through the wall at the back of the warehouse.

Poor Little Feller DHODGES
A new local DHB member who stepped up, stepped in, and stepped out, to make this year’s event amazing. Thank you for getting the wood sponsorships for the big ramps and the swag. Your hard work and commitment helped all of us through this process. Way to go racing too man! For your first BIG RACE you rocked out!

FINALLY Overcoming my agnonizing fear of riding off of the Widow Maker and Death Trap:
Enough said about that!!

David “1998” Tolley
The dude got completely knocked out to the point of snoring on Court Street and then came back to skate on Sunday!!!! No more naps on my course dude!!! Ha ha…Glad you are ok. You and your family are special and I am glad you are part of the WV DHB Chapter. Shout out to Nurse Shasta for being there and taking charge too!

Evan Old School Tolley
Way to bring it BROTHER!!!

Nick I
Being Joe I’s Mini Me has to be a hard job but dude you will take it to a new level Man! Way to just rock all weekend and come out of that Sunday crash with a great attitude. Loved having you here!

Cookie Riding Through The Cones
She has been asking me for months if she could do that….Stoked she was out on the course..she is now a Rock Star at the Plaza Hotel at the end of Court Street. Seeing all of the residents out cheering her on was awesome!

Karl “Don’t call me Sandbagger No Mo” Floitgraf
Respect brother. Way to go.

SAPCO
You are all my bro’s and I was stoked to see you guys tear it up at the Party!! Hair band and all!!

Joe I
When we were thinking about who we wanted to honor this year it was unanimous. As I said at the Farm you have been truly an inspiration for me since I came into this sport back in January of 2005. It was the Farm, 66 and Red Clay, and the other grassroots guys that came before that motivated me and the DHB to try to be a part of it. I must say though, Daisy Duck was ridiculous Man!!!! Ha ha

Fire Breathing Tooth Fairy Lenny
If you want to see what a truck load of stoke looks like look no further than the Poagester.

”FIREWORKS!!!!!!”

Gary Saenz ..The Official Registrar of the DHB
Thanks dude. Your family was sick and they made the trip just so that we continue to have our registration and check in go off without a hitch!! Thanks Brother and God Bless you and your growing family.

HellFadell.com
“It’s $7.99 a month but SO WORTH IT!”
Way to bring it this weekend !!!!

CBark To the TIMING TENT!
Our brother from a different mother saved our ass over and over and over and over and over again. Love you Man!

Cat
Brought it all weekend and smiled the whole time…Boys, better start practicing.

The City of Statesville and The State of North Carolina
Center Street is a state highway and getting to use that venue was a great opportunity! Thank you NC DOT and Captain Dan Miglin of the Statesville Police Dept for making it possible.

Joe MAC
Rocked it all weekend….need to call you the Silent Killer because that’s the way you took them down one by one!!

Sitting in the Waffle House at 2 am on Friday night with Ape Suit Mike…Still in his suit!!
Thanks for helping out with the clean up but next time you come to my town DON”T take out my timing tent!!! Ha ha

OHM and BP and the DC CREW
We love you guys and you all skated awesome...We need a DC/DHB Outlaw series this winter!!

Nephew Rich
If you didn’t meet him, the guy who volunteered as a course marshall all weekend at the bottom of the hill is my nephew that drove up from Atlanta just to help out.

“Hey, Joe, Want to see some guns?” “Sure”.
Enough said.

Wentzle “Honestly Home Land Security Officer, I am not a terrorist” Ruml
The dude is a freakin Magician boys!! Glad to have you here Bro!

From the What Was I Thinking Department -”Dude, it’s just that the skinned head and the tattoos are making people a little nervous. You’re going to have to leave.”

George Pappas
Shredding with intensity and smiling the whole time…that’s what it is about.

Racer X
Class act man! Congrats on winning a Dixie Cup event and the overall..that Jacket is YOU!!

JBH, Ramon, Mig, and the rest of the IHOS crew
The neighborhood will never be the same and that’s a good thing.

“I used to give the JOLT, but now I drink the VOLT”
Yeah, it was a little odd but hey the sponsorship helped and the stuff got drank!!!
Watch for your appearances on Youtube!!!

The Ripping Street Skaters at the Party
All the locals, JBH, Mitchell, and Justin were killing it. Great vibe…well..except for my “friends” who showed up.

And big thanks to all the volunteers, spectators, caterers, fans, kids, SPONSORS, etc.

I am sure I missing out on something or someone and will add it when I think of it later!!

You guys rock. I am going into hibernation again so if you need to get in touch with me you know how to do it.

This was my 1st Dixie Cup, and it was everything I had anticipated & more!

The DHB really worked super hard to bring one hell-of-a race to Statesville.
I heard more than one DHB say that without Marion, half the things would never have gotten done.
You are a true Saint, Marion & truly are an inspiration to us all.

As always, the "behind the scenes" people have to be commended...
Dan, Shasta, all the coneheads, families, and others, too countless to name.

Friday night Halloween skate was awesome....... cold, but awesome!
To see everyone coming down the ramp in costume was priceless!
Everyone was laughing so hard, I thought they were going to pee their pants
when JBH came down the ramp in his cone costume! I think he knocked over
half the cones on the way down! Too funny!
(Note to self: lose the false eyelashes next year. They flap too much in the wind!!)

The Saturday hybrid in downtown Statesville was a hoot! I'm glad our little contest could be
placed right smack-dab in the middle of the Pumpkin Fest! Everywhere you looked,
there were smiles on the locals faces! That was really cool to see.

Dave Tolley gave all of us a huge scare. He hit his noggin pretty hard, but his helmet took most of the impact.
It sure cleaned his clock, though. Glad you're ok!

One of the highlights of my Saturday was when Jason Mitchell let me ride his board during some down-time.
I made a couple circles on it, giggling like a little school girl.
He hopped on my Pavel, made a couple passes around me, got off, nodded with a smile,
then left. Thank you for that, Jason. I felt very privileged at that moment.

Saturday nights BBQ in the "Saw II" warehouse was a trip!
I'm just glad I got there early for some hushpuppies.... they were gone in a flash!
I didn't stay long enough to see the bands, but I hope someone got video.

Sunday GS was off the hook!
Those mirrored courses were super fun & challenging.
I think I skated better than I ever have. Competing with the guys DOES make a difference, and I now know why Lynn is so damn good!
It's fun competing with all the testosterone, but I missed all the usual gals:
Judi, Lynn, Trish, the Canadian girls.... Julie, Emilie, Raylene, and DHB Stephanie St. Claire, who is 5 months pregnant!

That Mega ramp was....... well......... a little intimidating. I chose not to fly down it....... this time.
Props to everyone that succesfully completed the roller coaster ramp & survived! One guy flew into the timing tent on the way down.
I'm not sure who that was.

The downhill was not very fast, but a lot of fun...... even if I came in dead last!! (gotta work on my push)
The end of the day was the award ceremony. Short, sweet, & full of stoke!
I did not deserve the 1st overall Giant Jug for the women's division, but I took it anyway. Well......... JBH took it, actually! I couldn't take
it on the plane with me..... I had too much stuff! Thanks Jonathan.

Sunday night, a few of us went to the local Mexican joint where we all watched Ramon eat his very first fajitas! I think he really liked them!
We had a few laughs, talked about the weekend, then made our way back to our hotels, houses, etc........ to pack for our journey back home.
Thanks to everyone that knocked on my door for the next hour yelling, "landshark!" That really WAS funny, but I didn't want to let on because, well....
I was hoping you'd get tired & go away.... which you did........... eventually!!!! HaHa!!

Monday was an early one for JBH, George and me. We all flew out of Raleigh/Durham, so we had a 5:30 am departure.
JBH & I said goodbye to George at the airport.... he went back to Colorado & JBH & I flew together to Chicago where we said our goodbyes there.
Before parting, we had a little fun with some statues in the airport! I'm surprised we didn't get in trouble!

Ending, I would like to thank everyone that made this years Dixie Cup possible.
Thank you for giving me memories I will never forget.

Here are a few of the weekend's memories:

Hey guys, I'm writing an article about the race and I'm looking for some nice high-res/decent photos of the race.

I'm particularly looking for some photos that show the following:

People racing / winners
Juggy
Human slalomcone JBH
Best costume photos
Marion in any kind of activity organizing
Internationals having fun
Knocked out David, Shasta helping
Cat
Saturday night warehouse session
Civ with prize longboard/spandex
8ft ramps / mirrored GS

Please send your photos to ramonATairflow-skateboardsDOTcom

I'd appreciate if you could send them asap.
