Controled Slides alright!
Trystan at -8 there isn't a lot that will in a hard thrust. Maybe the rear is too loose! Maybe you are applying less pressure on the rear truck when you get into that section.
Often we tend to lean to far forward wich will cause this. Try to resist the forward lean and sit more. This wil help pressure on the rear.

Controlled kick-out?
yesterday, blastin some TS, I was just givin'er..... and when I was twisting really hard to make it through the middle cones I would sliding my back wheels out quite often. Is that normal?
It didn't seem to hinder me...... was kind of a controlled slip out, as if the back end was catching up with the rest of the board. Riding Grey Cambries on the back..... and it was -8 degrees celcius out... lol
