There has been talk of pre-coned wheels ever since Team Radikal's legendary foray into Europe a few years ago....cool. It'll be intersting to see what the feedback is, the more the merrier!

Is this the second wheel with a slalom skater's name on it?

I don't know, but do you realise you can now buy a "Racer-X" complete?-Deck, trucks, wheels and bearings! Who would have thought that this would ever happen? I for one believe that it happened to the one guy that deserves it most.
Congrats Jason, you are now my new all-time No.1 skate hero! Long may you roll...

Haaa! Haa! Haaa! Yeah Ramon, with these and the futur pre-coned Retros I guess you and Dominik won't be needing my "wheel coning services" anymore... :D

From Silverfish.com:
Chris Chaput wrote:I'll post more on the subject later, but for now I want to clear a few things up that seem like misinformation.

First of all, I don't think of the Cŏncave ZigZags as being "less" of a wheel than a traditional ZigZag. The waist of the Cŏncave is 68mm, and the largest diameter is between 72mm and 73mm. That's an average of being around 70mm in diameter. The width of the wheel can be trimmed from as narrow as you'd like, and all the way up to 61mm. BigZigs are 58mm wide by comarison, and ZigZags 52.5mm wide. In other words, this wheel is somewhere between a 70mm ZigZag and a 75mm BigZig in terms of mass, and the smallest diameter is that of an Avalon. You can trim both the inner and outer lips which allows you choose the position of your contact patch relative to the bearing seats.

The problem with "natural" coning is threefold:

1. It takes a long time to get there and then they don't last that long
2. You can never have a "new" coned wheel
3. The resulting shape may be better than flat, but it isn't necessarily optimal

Some coned wheels are "flat and flared", and others are "hourglass" shaped.

Not all coned wheels are created equal...

There's been a lot of interest in these new Pocket Pistol wheels and a fair amount of discussion. Here's an active thread on the 'fish: Pre-Coned Wheels

Cone Crushers...a subjective review

Post by Tony Peters » Fri Nov 28, 2008 10:29 pm

Ok first and foremost I haven't been on a board since the 16th of September the day before I broke my ankle and my balance sucks bigtime. That said after a rain shower induced false start I finally got out this afternoon for 2 hours of "rolling physical therapy" (that's what I'm telling my wife) I have a preset course in the local high school parking lots that only requires throwing out cones which makes practice nice. it's not a fast course but it requires a lot of work to skate clean. First couple of runs were purely to knock off rust but after a bit of practice my ability to flow was coming back and it was time to abuse my cones and see what these wheels have to offer. I don't know who pours these wheels they feel like a cross between a white hotspot and a 66mm earthwing they roll faster than than they seem, feel really cushy and yet don't have that where is the lip syndrome that Avila's and big Pinks have. I pushed pretty hard not try to get them loose but just to get speed and I found that they hold very very well in both tight machine gun turns and medium speed offsets. I say this is a subjective review because though I have recorded times for various wheels on this course I am not capable of matching those times at the moment maybe by March I'll be back to my previous times. One thing I have noticed, though I left some serious thane tracks my wheels didn't wear much other than the fact that the inner lip feels sharper (something also commented on by my fellow cone-sprayer) after skating than before. All in all I am please they feel good and unlike Reflex wheels (which I am admittedly faster on than pre black ops Seismics) don't give me a lost feeling as I initiate cross under turns.
turns are fun....
