Antrim, NH Slalom Training on Sundays

Hi All.

I try to get a slalom course or two set most Sundays. I have some nice, quiet hills picked out, a small regular crew, 100 seismic cones, loaner boards, bag full of helmets. Don't have timer or tons of experience. Encouraging anyone interested to come along. Try it or show us how it's done.

>>SUNDAY, 6/28. Game On. From this far out the weather looks like it might cooperate. Slalom training sessions continue at the end of Pierce Lake Road in Antrim. We meet at the skatepark on Jameson Ave and leave there by 11. I'll move a ramp if I can, and we'll set up several courses. Beginner, GS / HS, and a straight line TS.

Should we make this one a cookout too? Message / email me, let me know if you're coming.

Need more info? teencenter at tds dot net, h = 603-588-3941

Email me anyway to get on the list, the email blast is the first and best way for me to get a quickie off the ground!

Dave, what time Sunday? I'll try to be there, and I'll bring some cones(20) and a few extra boards (old ones).

Antrim specifics, please

Dave, what time, and which street? This is only about 1-1/2 hrs away for me, but I ain't toodlin' over to find I'm late, nor am I gonna cruise around rural N.H. in hopes of finding the correct hill. Money is a little too tight to be doing too much sightseeing... ;-)

It's just off Pierce Lake Road in Antrim, on the L side very close to the end. Mapquest doesn't show the development, but you can't really miss it. I'll try to remember to put a few cones up top.

From route 202 between Hillsboro and Antrim, take Elm ave a couple/3 miles? then bear right onto Pierce Lake Road. Probably less than a mile to the Left, "somethingorother DR"? I think it's the only marked road off PLR.

I'll be there by 11:15, usually I gather a crew at the skatepark on Jameson Ave and leave by 11.

I look forward to seeing you!

Weather forecast looks crappy... skate is unlikely to happen.

Today would have been the day, no rain til 4.

Damn.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, I had great time! Curt, thanks for dragging my old bones out, they got a little Sunburned, but that's preferrable to being waterlogged! :-D

Dave, thanks for the accurate directions as well. I only got waylayed twice (my maps, Not your directions!) on my way there. And, no, I did NOT use GPS (I'm oldschool that way, as books, maps, etc, require no batteries!). ;-)

And, just to clarify, my newfound spot outside of Claremont is 53.7 miles from Elm St. + Rt 9, so just over an hour out for your crew. BTW, the hills are comparable, the one I found is older, tar-wise by a few years, but longer, however with no 'uphill' runout, just flatter spots that can be used for deceleration. Hopefully, it won't be too far to travel for a race/gathering, provided I can gather support in that town.

I'll try to get back to Antrim once or twice more this summer, though it'll be a tough sell for my twins + their mom. Sorry, but 2 yr. olds do have their parents at their mercy in these matters. :-)

WANT A TIMER?
Send me your address and I'll ship it you.

Having a timer will make your training sessions more "legitimate" and probably attract more of the old timers to race.
Call it the start of a series and hype it up...
I'd like to be in on the fun, but I'll be out for the next 2 - 3 weekends.
So, if you have the timer it will force me to come up soon ;)

How can you pass up a timer made by a SPACE SHUTTLE ASTRONAUT and a DOCTOR??

You can't. :-)

Wow, SUPER cool! I think this will definitely pick things up a notch or three.

I'll get you my info, then hold your timer hostage until you come up, skate, and eat some of OUR burgers!

Thanks Dan!

It's Oliver from last weekend.

Hey Oliver,

I'm planning on skating this Sunday, and expecting we'll have sort of "the usual crowd" here in Antrim.

It would be great if you can make it out here.

If you message me your email address I'll add you to the list.

Not sure which hill we'll be at yet, but we can play that a little last minute. It's one or the other, Glenn knows them, probably a little after noon.

I may be able to make it for a 12:30 skate. See you at the 202.

All right who is in? Big GS from the top, then a Dual Hybrid. Don't worry if you can't skate it from the top jump in at your comfort level and move up the hill.

We're still getting out on Sundays.

Great training session today - yet another new skater, he went from hoping to get down the hill alive to getting a real time on the course in 4 hours!! New guy last week to, and the girl what brung 'im has picked up her game in a big way as well. The youngsters are enjoying the new lap timers (as are the oldsters!) and everyone's getting faster, feeling pretty competitive!

If you're new and looking to try it out or just want to come skate a racecourse with us, get in touch!
