What is an event family?
An event family is a group of events that are recurrent. Events with the same name and maybe the same organisation that are organized multiple times. Normally an event that is coming back year after year.
What is it used for?
The idea is to make previous events visible for an event. And make it easy to navigate to them from an event homepage. For example to see results for the same event over the years. One could even imagine having overall statistics or a special ranking for the event family over the years.
What is the difference between a cup or series vs an event family?
A cup or series is a group of events that is not necessarily of the same event family.
A cup or series is a group of events during a year. An event family include events from multiple years.
A cup or series has a yearly ranking result. An event family has not. But one could imagine having statistics or results over the years also for an event family.
