foamcore
panda is right a light board is an advantage for footbraking. the handling in general is just a little bit more confortable compared to a heavier board. in the front of the board I got lips. these lips provide a better feeling of the board. it's almost like concave but the middle part of the deck is flat ----> more control... that's why the foamcore is less wide in the front

I don't ride so many different downhill boards that I could say I prefer foam or wood but I definitely like my foamy downhill board cause it's light and fast. My old wooden board hasn't got the lips yet and so I cannot compare sooo well. If I could change something then I would shape the foamcore a little bit nicer, I don't like the 45degree angle so much. Maybe we could reduce the weight a little bit...
For me it's not that much about the material, but every material has its own characteristics and then you use them to make a special board. That means if you wanna have a flat deck, don't bother about the weight then you can produce the board out of wood. If you wanna have lips and a light board like my downhill model and the C81 then use foam.

developed for another world champion title!
for those who haven't seen it yet: chris hart and i made a new board. it just got finished on time. right before the downhill world championships. it's lighter than the texalium deck and has a new design for the lips. it's stiffer and the new magun trucks have no freeplay anymore.
i'd like to say thank you to all my sponsors: airflow skateboards, abec11, globe, magun, beat engel speedhelmets, transa

Hey Martin -
I have a question about the first board you posted; specifically the first photo and how the foam core is shaped. Why did you have the foam taper away from the front and leave those lips exposed? Is that for grabbing rail in turns? I see you got rid of that with the new board, I was curious as to why. Sweet boards! You make 16 year olds like me dream that we could afford rides like that.
