Kill City Racing - Detroit

Post by Christopher Bara » Fri Jun 04, 2004 3:52 am

For any of you in or near the Detroit area. Every Sunday, at about noon, we have a course set up at a private spot in Auburn Hills.
We've got two great hills...one fast, one extremely fast...and some great flats too.
We hold a timed race every couple weeks, different course every time (GS, TS, Hybrid, Etc.)...and in between we do allot of runs for fun.
Drop me a line if your interested and want details. If youre new to the sport, we've got plenty of loaner board available. It's nothing too serious, just having a good time, racing and carving in the sun...
And we go year round.
C'mon down

Drove through OCC today, Friday, the front hill is still has not been ripped up. Road is closed though. Don't think it will work for cones this weekend. Also, on the back hill the parking lot midway down the hill has been ripped up and has left alot of debris on the hill half way down. Brooms will be needed.

Yeah, Chris..
Killin em in the Murder Capital...

I do want to try and make it over this summer w/ a few of crew.
BTW I saw the Detroit Cobras a week ago. Damn they wrecked the joint.. I will catch them every time back in town... for sure. The singer is pretty hot too. Kinda Betty Page looks w/ a soulful and sultry voice and well put together..

I havent skated much as of late. Workin to hard. I am still get some time in on the guitar at night. Getting those Stooges covers worked out.

God, Detroit Rocks!!

heh heh...them Cobra Betty's would rip ya to shreds......and leave you beggin' for more....they dont play around here much anymore though!....always on tour...

Glad to see you found the forum Ric....

We set up a rad new course today....this thing is so long your cant see the finish line...75 cones....starts on a mild incline, curves around the road to the right....i would call it a Hybrid...offsets into 3- 6 cone sets (left 6, right 6 , right again 6) ....then the whole course pitches onto another road that runs into the first one, so you have to change 90 degrees to finish up...that part is all TS, cones winding to the right and left...
I've never seen anything like it...it feels more like an alpine ski run than a slalom run and it's really hard to keep your speed up, or down, to where you can do the whole course easily...you have to be OVER the edge for at least part of it ...
Hopefully Scott Ward will get some pix up of it sometime soon...
next week, we race this damn thang...

No Doubt Jeff.....you brought allot of energy with you to the race and that's one of the things that made it a great day....
It's good to finally see some of the midwest cities getting together for an event, even if it's a lil' outlaw job. Pleasure meetin' ya....and i know we'll be drinking in W V in the fall, aye?
Kudo's to Alan, the Freak Bro's and the Chi-town folks for putting on a great event, in a great location, in the middle of a great city on a perfect day. It was worth every mile travelled.

Hey Chris....i'm eyeing out a Saturday in July......i have to check my calendar at work.....even August is possible....the race itself is only about 20 minutes long...so i'm thinking if folks drive in, i'd like to set up something else downtown...i have to take a hike down to Hart Plaza (our riverside park) to check out the possibilities of doing something up the same lane you guys thru over there.

Well, yesterday was a bust at OCC. SOB, Fadell, & Feirtag got kicked out of OCC, so they set up a rad course across the street at the Comerica. As soon as they got the course set up, got kicked out of there. They went North up Squirrel Road to the next parking lot and set up again. That's about the time I got there. The Supaflex was king, since I got the bushings shaved just so. The new grip on the Turner turned out pretty good, so I got to show that off. I cut out the logo by hand and installed prismatic stickers that show through the cut out lettering. I'm hoping to blind the competition at races with it.

Yeah i heard you guys had problems at OCC....fortunately, it wasnt a real cop and it'll probably "pass".....I saw pix of that Comerica course....that was insane!.....it reminded me of a stockmarket chart....wonder how it ran?....Well, the good thing is at least now we have a back up spot for the next time we get the boot at OCC....i'm hoping that back hill is done being repaved so we can move it back there again where we're less obvious. Anybody take a ride out back?

Brother Ric, how ya been?
you're just in time....check out the Chi-Costa forum right below this one
The Chicago guys threw a small event a month ago and it was a blast
They're going to do another in 2 weeks....Chicago has to be a whole lot closer than Motown for ya....and it's down in the city on the lakefront.
Check out the threads and drop me a line
We're staying at the Congress Plaza (most everything else is sold out)
Old joint, probably a bit run down, but it's right there across the street and the price is right.

The last event had everything from seasoned vets to new riders, so all are absolutely welcome.
