That's great news Chris. After missing the Buckeye Open I'm jones'n to race again. Does Grant Park have a hill suitable for a GS course? Racing in Grant park is a experience within itself. Great city vibe with awesome skyline next to the lake.

Hey, don't you guys know it's illegal to skateboard in Chicago :)

That's why they call this an "outlaw"... I'm bummed I'll be missing this one - it will rock.

Chris, Sign me up!!! Do you guys have pics of the GS hill in Lisle? I always like to get a idea of what kind of hill I'm going to be racing on. If it's anything Trade street I am going need some practice and little more courage.

How do you handle entry fees? pay ahead or pay on race day?

paul, pay on race day.i will get a pic up.the hill is in a corporate campus.it starts out mellow gets fast at the bottom as it drops out. its about as long as tower hill, maybe a little longer,we should be able set a killer single lane g/s there,i wouldnt call it trade street though.its 30 mins from downtown and deserted.we ride out there a lot and i have been sessioning there since 01 with sidlo, marsala, kincais and novatny.its a super reliable spot.its due west of the CHIxILL shop near the morton arboreteum.we will get more info in regards to crash space this week.

I SO want to come out for this. It was a blast last year. Don't know anyone who's going from the north. Any idea what bus rides cost?

Ben,

Have you talked with any of the "other" Daggers? JBH is going back to the Motherland, so if you wanna ride with me let me know.

Here's a few pics of the Grant Park race site...not a really steep hill, but smooth pavement and a steady incline made for good speed...plus...hell, it's in downtown Chicago....it's just a very cool place to hold a race.

I left some flesh Sunday at the GS site you guys will be shooting the weekend of the 22nd. I managed to find all three slick spots. Sorry I won't be around that weekend to leave some more :)

I was feelin' kinda' Bara-like with my left shoulder that day - CNova's got a nice tar pic of my back and shirt. BTW, I got most of the tar out of my shirt - the stuff in the wounds is harder to get out... sigh, just couldn't stay off the pavement last week. Bring your long boards - GS site has some nice tree-lined hills. have fun and skate safe everybody!!! See ya' when I'm back from NYC.

Cfav, Any news on the crash space situation??? Ben Buckles anf myself will prolly be coming up. I haven't heard from any of the other Daggers. Should we bring a sleeping bag or find a hotel? If it's the Hotel should it be in Chicago or in Lisle near the GS site?

why the sad face Laura?

Hey, a couple years ago when we came down, we stayed at some old Al Capone-ish hotel right across the street from the park. It was an ooooold place and in deperate need of updates...or demolition....basically, it was a glorified dump....but it was cool in its own way...and it was close....and a fraction of the price of the newer hotels which are farther away from Grant park...we could walk to the race and walk to a whole strip of bars that Favero took us to.....if anybody's interested, i can look up the name again

Good news (weatherwise) it looks like the heat wave going to break this thursday. Just in time for the Chicago Deathrace 2006. Next weekend temps are predicted in the low 80's.
after a week of 100 degree temps it gonna feel great.

Great job Freak Bros! 2 great races in one day! Whole lotta fun had. My dog has a new hero. Whenever anyone walked by she may or may not have barked. But whenever Oles walked by she barked and barked and barked out words of encouragment and praise.

My thanks to everyone that was there - 'specially for the all the helpful tips. I'm gonna get better and better ... look out!

keep us coming back...its become a no-brainer for me. If you missed it, you missed out.

Greg,

Always a great time racing you Detroit guys....Oh, and thanks for the compliment,
although, "Oles Rips" sounds kinda oxymoronic.....contextually speaking. :-)

Thanks also to Mangles and family for letting us raid their cooler......and keeping
their dogs teeth outta my yaaasss....;-)
