2011 Slalom St. Louis - May 28-29

Post by Wesley Tucker » Sun Feb 13, 2011 5:49 pm

JBH has this on the contest calendar as of January 6 so I am going to assume it's a go.

I laid off thinking about it UNTIL the Cardinals published their 2011 schedule.

Good news: the Cards are AT Colorado that weekend. So, that means the downtown hotels are dry as a bone and willing to negotiate.

Have every intention of making this one again.

Who else is in?

Will be there. I have been thinking, dreaming of this race for quite some time now. It has been way too long. What was the name of that Greasy Diner we had burgers at. Time to go practice. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Steve and I will be getting a room at the Watertower (1.5 miles from the race) and anyone who's not super sketchy is welcome to crash on the floor for a suggested room contribution of $10 per floor spot (rooms are like $75/night).

Just FYI though we probably won't be able to haul everyone to the race in the mornings cause we already have a full car (just not all staying at the same spot) but like I said it's super close to the race so you could easily just skate there.

I'm looking at you, Yerke bros.

OK, ladies and germs, preparations are in full boil mode. Courses have been set, swag is arriving daily, timing spreadsheets have been received and names entered, timing system checked, various transportational and organizational duties have been assigned, contingency plans for Inclement Weather Phenomena have been made. All we need now is a few more days, a bunch of riders and volunteers to show up when they said they would, and we've got ourselves a bona fide skateboard race.

A request: Please pay your entry fee online (via PayPal) ahead of time, if at all possible. That'll make one less thing we organizers will have to keep track of on race day.

So far we have received payment from the following:
  • Paul Price
    Eddy Martinez
    Steve Lavin
    Lynn Kramer
    David Tolley
    Keith Hollien
    Jeremy Coffman
Brian Kamins (for himself, Tom Bilstien and Brendiz Cerny--hope I spelled those right)
    Marcos Soulsby-Monroy
    Terra Massia-Patton
Nathan Vestal (for Jacob Dodman and Jeremy Fugate)
    Zack Levitt
More info to come soon!

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough money to send someone over to serve the beer. Maybe next year? ;-)

We all do, Tom--believe me! But even if it doesn't hold out, we have at least a couple of backup plans. Anything short of a tornado, we'll get some racing in.

Oh, I'm sure. All those people have paid. :-)

Come to think of it, though, I realize I did forget one person's name--some guy who claims to be an "OG" or something. Guess I'd better update that list so he doesn't "bus' a cap" in my a$$.

Just a fantastic weekend!

For me everything about all five days from Thursday through Monday was spectacular.

The Daggers put on a great race in a great venue and attracted a great crowd.

And all I have to say is anyone who disparages the idea of "straight" slalom hasn't tried to run 90 cones "S"d all the way down the hill. My goodness what a ride.

JBH, Graf and Goad should all be commended for putting it all together and running it like clockwork.

For sure great time even though I had to zip in and zip out same day. Thanks to the Daggers for always putting out their best and making ALL skaters welcome even those who fall off ramps and break them from blast starts too! You guys are the best and wish I could have partied with the gang more. Thank you for a great Sunday!
