Skaters of Utah unite!

Post by Martin Drayton » Sun May 15, 2005 10:37 pm

Hey, are there any Utah-based skaters that use this site?
I am based in Park City and will be running a skate shop this summer in Main Street call "PC Park & Ride".
We will be specialising in Longboard and Slalom boards and I will be organising weekly "Come and try it" sessions where there will be boards to try and more slalom cones than you can shake a stick at!
I will be coaching in the fine art of slalom for anyone that wants it. My background is as a skater since '77, coaching skating (and snowboarding) at my Summer camp for the last 11 years. My race background can be found on the Team page at : http://www.roeslalom.com/team.html#martin_drayton

So, get in touch and lets skate! I'm hoping the summer of 2006 will see a full-blown race in Park City... :)

Hey Martin,

I am a newbie from the Heber area, just a few miles south of Park City. I was acually at your shop a few weeks ago. Rumor had it that you were organizing club rides. Glad that you are around to teach. I can't wait to meet and ride. My brother is into slalom and he has shared the stoke with me. I ride longboards but would love to try the cone thing!

1st session was a blast!

Well, our first (official) session was wicked! Thanks for turning up Trish, Vincent and the crew, Mike May and Derrick-who showed up in flip-flops and proceeded to tear up the courses!
Its frightening how quickly people are progressing..Some of the newbies, bored with easy starter courses were making tricky offset courses and 5 1/2ft straight by the end of the night...The future is bright, especially as most of these guys are 17...Dammit!

See y'all next week,

Slidin' in salt lake

Post by trish erickson » Thu Sep 15, 2005 4:42 am

Hey keith,

I got your phone message. Thanks for the invitation. I really want to get down there and watch you guys one of these nights. Just keep posting and let me know. I was acually visiting Billy tonight and wishing him a fast recovery and we ended up running cones out in front of his house. What really sucks is Billy, with a broken clavicle, is STILL FASTER than me.....ugh! LOL. Billy you rock. Anyway, thank and keep in touch.
