with the presentation today ended a two months midterm-project at the Köln International School of Design ( http://www.kisd.de - my former school) where I was guest lecturing for this project/class.

16 students learned basic principles of lamination and CAM/CNC.

this was tons of fun and i would def. do a similar thing again.

THE stoke of today was the hoody they printed for me:

(showing the shapes that were done.)

here are two galleries showing in no particular order the diffenrent stages of the project and the outcome (some decks had to be sanded and were not yet clearpainted):

the project was also presented on the EUROMOLD fair in Frankfurt last weekend, where the KISD had it´s own booth.

Hey Alex. Thanks for posting those links. All the decks are so amazing!
How did the MDF work for making the moulds?

Thanks!
The MDF was okay cause it´s cheap.
We sanded it, soaked it in epoxy (rolled on epoxy and used hot air to further liquify it) and sanded again, then polished.
The pressed decks were between additional plastic layers that gave them the shiny surface.
If you want to lam directly onto the MDF like we did with the vacuumed decks the MDF has to get sanded and polished mirrorlike and you´ll need very good anti-adhesive coating.
but that all worked well.

Thanks
