Just went into Titus Karlsruhe to buy griptape........I haven´t been there in a year or so.......I went in and thought I took the wrong door-----ey, where are the skateboards?

Clothing, shoes........everywhere.
In the back there was a small, very small indeed, corner with 20 or so decks............

But the shopowner talked to me and told me the Youth council approached him and asked him if he knew something about slalom skateboard racing. They are interested to hold a race during a major "Fest" in the middle of the city in 2007........I should get involved, stay
tuned.

I exactly know that problem. Even in Cologne, we have probably over 5 skateshops or even more, where you can buy complete decks, or wheels and trucks, but as soon you just need a part of something, a bushing, a new King pin, or some nuts, you'll get lost. Everytime they send you to another shop, where you have to cross the room that is packed with clothes, and shoes and the newest vidis, until you catch someone to talk to (who will probalbly send you to the next one - "no we ain't no got no nutz"). I think it is kind of sad, that most "look-like" skaters don't even skate. The appereance of them seems to be more important to them, to "fit" somewhere in, as to really experience the flow...if you know what I mean?!
I think the reason is simply the sort of commercialism. If we want this "sport" to grow, we have to look after ourselfs not to get there as well.
Thankfully, Heiko went out to do his own shop his way, no kiddie stuff, or cross-over promotion to get customers...(I'm not trying to advertice but, you might want to check it out, if you haven't yet: http://www.concretewave.de )
just what a skateshop should be about....about skateboarding.


Keep us informed about the "Fest" in Karlsruhe, I think we should give them a lesson to learn.....what is Slalomskateboarding???

I have never been to Heiko´s but I can imagine because I know Heiko.
The best ever skateshop I have seen was the Coyote Grind Lounge in Stockholm.
It was hard to believe that something like this really existed, undescribeable. You gotta see to believe.

The best ever skateshop I have seen was the Coyote Grind Lounge in Stockholm.

For those that don't know yet, that's Corky's shop. He shares the ownership of that shop with two other old time skaters. They designed it and filled it with products to their liking and to cater for all types of skateboarding. Thus, plenty of slalom stuff!

Yes that´s right. Corkys shop is really nice and one of the best and nicest shops I have ever seen...
He has a huge board selection and that´s waht´s all about I think.
