What are the official rules for 100 cones! Time to move on from Cyber!-- What is Lucas official record!We ran some last weekend and had a blast the first time we have run it! 6ft centers about 21 secs and change!

Richie,

We "argued" about this at length last winter and I think the only thing that was settled is there will be a time penalty for hitting a cone. (.1 seconds as I recall.)

The 100-cone challenge is just that: 100 cones. Some people run it at 1.6 meters on the flat, some people run it at 8-foot on a grade, some with a start ramp, others with a push start.

Oh, one other "rule:" the time is measured from the FIRST cone to the LAST cone. No time in the push area or runoff. So set your timing strips at the cones.

So, if you wanted to break Luca's 20-second time, theoretically you could set up 5-foot cones on a hill like Avila and go for it. Of course, whether or not you can wiggle that fast at the bottom of the hill is up to you

100 cone rules ver 1.1
-------------------------------------------
1. 100 straight "full sized" cones, timed from the middle of first cone to the middle of the last cone.
2. Cone penalty 0.1 sek for each "cone hit".

- "Full sized" = Minimum base diameter 12,5 cm and minimum hight 22 cm.
- "Cone hit" = Fallen cone or outside base circle.

Blaze into a 100 cone straight course with whatever start you like, on any hill, with any slope, with any surface, with any wind, with any cone spacing in any temperature and adjust your time with penalties. The smallest adjusted time wins. Do it with your friends and you have an unofficial time. Do it at a sanctioned event, you might just have a world record.

Ran 100 coner today with my bros, I think we set a couple of marks today! 50 and over Rene Carrasco 27.98 adjusted. Steve Evans 45 and over 22.96

I'm totally stoked settin a new record for the 50 and over,[ 27.98 ] and I'm sure Evans is too - [ 22.96 ] for the 45 yr. and over !

I want to publicly THANK the BROWN BOMBER and Steve BADLANDS Evans for the tips and
advice they have given me over the last year ! Very generous guys !

Thank's to the Carrasco family for opening up new views on the 100 cone challenge. I can now race in the >40 category and not have to fight those young guys full of muscles. It gives us all more milestones to reach.

I think it is only a matter of time until all of us old boys will be blown away by the younger guys and then it'll be great to start racing in the veteran or old-boys class.

The 100 Cone Slalom Course Challenge is the most amazing and wierdest thing !

About 3/4 of the way -
- racing down the course,
- it seems like the race is almost over - BUT THE CONES JUST KEEP ON COMING AT YOU !

[ at least to me - ].....It seems like you're standing still at that point - AND the cones are coming towards you - AND YOU gotta get out of the way ! Wierd but cool.

- Can't wait to try it AGAIN with the Brown Bomber, bro. David, and the SSS bros. - - -
[ I think Eric Groff would do good at this - I realize he has alot of work hours ...]
Chicken emailed me today, and said he will be at the next one!

Hopefully, NEXT TIME, it WON'T be
almost 100 degrees like last Sun. - Whew !

It was 116 degrees this last Sunday and 130 in Havasu. Unreal.

I remember I was going pretty fast the 50 first cones, thinking that maybe I have a chance of getting a good time. Up to 60, still doing OK, coming closer to 70 I was getting tired, To get to cone number 80 I had to work harder and for sure I had lost some speed by now. Getting to 90 was a pain and through the last 10 I was just trying to continue working my way through although all the speed was gone and my legs no longer enjoyed the repetitive movement. During the last 20 cones I lost all hopes of doing a really good time. You need to be a real sportsman to do this thing, and having done it I realized I wasn't.
