2009 plans

As we are planning for the 2009 season we would like to know if anyone is doing so too and what dates they have in mind.

You might have seen that I already posted an announcement of a Slalom Event in Switzerland for April 25th. That's one of our dates that we can't change because it's combined with another big event (the tunnel opening).

We have 5 more dates to set (other races, not all of them Slalom) and would like to have them on dates that coincide the least possible with other events. So if anyone does have a date in mind on that they want to run a contest, please post here. Like this we can avoid having two big competitions on the same weekend going on.

Please post this asap.

Our dates (so far):

- see below -

Please tell us if there is any collision with your planned dates asap so we can look and see what we can do. So far there are only two dates (April 25 and September 27) that we can't change at all.

Please note that during July there will probably be a row of 3 or 4 ISGA downhill events with international participants from all over the world. So that's why they have it so close together. So if possible, we should try not to have any Slalom Races during that time (OR combine the venues!).

Most excellent, Ramunski!

To schedule our slalom races in conjunction with IGSA events is a win/win situation.
We may even be able to get hardcore downhill spectators to trickle over to the slalom event.

Baby steps.... baby steps!!

If it's anything like Maryhill, the finish line spectators will thrill everyone with a flash of boobies!
Joe I would faint!

Sounds like a few Maryhillers need to have some skin conditions cleared up before they start showing more skin!!!

Staph sucks, but at least the DH community is getting the word out and people are getting their oozing rashes and boils taken care of.

I do like the idea of getting the events closer so there will be more crossover though

To slalom contest organizers: is there any chance on combining your 2009 race(s) with freestyle demonstrations/contests?

Lots of slalom skaters are also dedicated freestylers and vice versa.

On the other hand if there's a freestyle contest, I know who to contact to discuss slalom opportunities.
Please consider and let me know as I'm the WFSA (http://www.wfsafreestyle.org) Secretary. If this needs discussion, please just start a new topic instead of replying here.
Thanks!

Sorry, it won't happen in 2009. At least I won't be part of it. Time for a break.

Jani's break after mine these last 2 years.
Jean Sebastien says "Antibes but not in Antibes" He means that I'm back to organize something with Antibes longskate survivors.
This race will be a part of the french championship, but open to all. A race for the racers. No advertissments, no much public. Just natural wonderful place. I can just tell you that the 3 slaloms will be Big and long (hybrid 80 cones, tight 100 cones, and SuperG, mmh I let you imagine what we can do in the mountain). Date will be one week before Grenoble. More informations soon.
Just know that I organize this event without money but do everything for the confort and the pleasure of the racers. If money come, it will be just bonus for all.

See you

Pat,

Are those Hood dates firm? Last years change really made me have to scramble things around. Also I remember seeing a post from Texas Eddie somewhere with the dates for the Sizzler, but I have not found them since. Anybody got a line on that?

No Trocadero this year? That's really sad. We already had like 7-10 riders lining up from Spain to go there. It's a shame losing that mythical event.

Ahhh...another one of my old high school stomping grounds...used to be familiar with some of the local law enforcement and court staff up that way! ;-)

We stole Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer's head off a Christmas display in a guy's yard and a hilarious chase between us and the owner and local cops ensued - crossing streams in the darkness in deep snow and trying not to drop the head...or the beer. We finally stashed the head before we were nabbed, and then claimed we lost it. Had to buy the guy a new reindeer but my friend Rob still has the head at his house in Westchester! Damn skateboarders!
