In order to apply for a world record you need to follow these rules that ISSA have set:
http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/ISSA/ ... ecords.pdf

The short version is:
It must be a sanctioned ISSA event - posted in a correct time so that everyone can attend
You must run a course according to the rules
You must use approved timing equipment
You must document the course and send this documentation to an ISSA representative or have a ISSA rep at the race.

Good Luck!

Amazing! It's getting really hard now to catch up with you. I guess running clean is pretty much the only way to do it.

Congratulations!

Thank you!

I was surprised myself that it went that well, it had been a long day with many activities before the race so I almost felt like only taking times and setting cones.

After the race (6 full runs of 100 cones - phew) I tried to go a little slower to go clean and I did 20.59 but of course I hit cone number 99. Bummer :)

One question for Marcus & all: what's the cone distance you used in your record attempts? We gave it a try this saturday with 100 cones @ 1.80 (180m run), making 24,475 + 10 cones (25,475 total) as best time.

We wonder whether we just have to train harder (that's obvious :-)) or also shorten the run a bit (i.e. 100 cones @ 1.60 will make the run 20m shorter, so about 2 seconds faster while more difficult - more cones).

We used 170cm center to center on the first 80 cones and then about 175cm I guess. We used 170cm for all 100 last year but when I marked it up the paint only lasted 80 cones :) So when I set/painted the last 20 this year I forgot the measuring tape, thats why I'm not sure...

I think you need a steeper hill and/or more practice. During our first attempts in 2004 I think my best time was 29 or 30 seconds (+ cones) so just keep trying!!!

Today as part of Outlawslalom #3 -WR weekend in Madrid, Daniel Navarro broke the Jr WR of 100 cones "clean" with 27,756 and the Jr WR of 100 cones w/ cone penalty with 24,612 (23,612 + 10 cones). At 16, this is a rider to watch.

Place: Parque del Oeste, Madrid. Tarmac, +/- 3% pitch.
100 cones, first 70 @1.80m and last 30 @ 1.90. Push start. No wind.
ISSA WR rules. Trakmate + excelmate timing.
23 riders attending.
Beautiful weather and finished with a picnic (spanish ham, good rioja wine, the whole lot)

Great fun and great records.

small error

Post by Lynn Kramer » Mon Sep 27, 2010 10:18 pm

Hi, I was reviewing the records and there is a typo on my record time. No really. It says 20.43+0 is 22.43. Since you won't believe I pulled a 20.43, let's say 22.43+0 is 22.43. Thanks

And congratulatons again to Janis. On flat. Unbelievable.

Lynn - where did you find the 20.43 typo? I have looked in both pdf's and on the web but can't seem to find it. Perhaps someone else fixed it already?

Anyways, I'm sorry for the slow response but its been a lousy year privately for me. At the moment I'm moving, but hopefully I'll get all things up and running soon so that I can send out diplomas to all the record holders.

Congrats to the 100 cones Janis!

What is the over 50 years old 100 cone record? Is there a 50+ 100 cone record at all or how about at 52 years old?

No specific 50+ record, but there is a Master' record: 45+

Current 100 Cone World Record Holders (With Cone Penalty):

Men Masters: 20.39 (19.49 + 9) - Fabian Björnstjerna, SWE (2008 Sept 13, Stockholm, SWE)
Women Masters: 28.34 (28.24 + 1) - Cat Young, USA (2008 Sept 7, San Jose CA, USA)

Current 100 Cone World Record Holders (Clean Runs):

Men Masters: 21.17 - Richy Carrasco, USA (2008 Sept 23, Antrim, NH, USA)
Women Masters: 28.95 - Judi Oyama, USA (2008 Sept 7, San Jose CA, USA)

They're all from 2008, so time to improve on those. Go for it Keith!!

Having raced from 43 years old (3/2003) to today at 52 years old there is a big difference between 45 and 50. I was surprised at the how big a difference. I have even noticed a difference in the last 2 years, since I was 50.

Keith
I agree Keith. And concerning the ranking the current Masters class 45+ was decided upon how things looked in 2003/2004. And the plan was to add classes depending on how the scene evolves. Now 7-8 years later we may start to see the use of another class. Oldboys 50+?

I agree it's a big diff between 40, 45 and 50. Lots of things start to happen there with your body. :-| Same as for Jun 11, Jun 14 and jun 17. Just the other way around. It's easy to add such a class for the ranking because it will be calculated automatically with the event results. But if there is not enough skaters 50+ it might not look so good.

I just had a look in the ranking database.
For the season 2012 we will have 55 men in the database in the 50+ class. And 4 women.
So maybe it would be the time. Then of course we don't know how many of these will actually skate... that only shows the potential.

And if we do this in the ranking maybe it should reflect the world record classes also.

Perhaps you could run query to check how many old boys had result from 2011? or did i misunderstood your current query.
But i think that having class for 45 and 50 seems over kill, difference should be more than 5 years

32 of these "oldboys/oldgirls" raced in 2011.

I think we have a couple of new World Records

As announced, we had our Outlawlslalom #15 - World record weekend this weekend. The 50 cone WR attempt was postponed to a date TBA, due to problems with the venue.
The 100 cone WR was held at Parque del Oeste. 70 cones @1.8m + 30 cones @ 1.9 with 4% pitch; no wind; rough surface.

The new world records are for Kids (<14yrs), obtained by Damborenea, Ane (Girl, 11 years old)

100 cones clean run: 42.160
100 cones no clean: 41.225 (41.125 + 1 cone)

Her father is proud :-)

Either I forgot to hit enter or I dreamed that I wrote this reply once already...

Congratulations to all you record breakers - your diplomas are on their way to you! Great work!

It seems that September is the month to break a world record if you look at the stats, and also it seems that many of the records are at a good level since they are only changed by one or a few 1/10 of a second each time nowadays.

Keep up the good work!

The ISSA BOD has approved the following world record set by Lynn in Nov 2019:

Women Masters: 23.191 - Lynn Kramer, USA (2019 Nov 10, San Diego CA, USA)

The pdf listings have been updated accordingly. (see first post in this topic for the two pdf links)
