WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF SLALOM SKATEBOARDING, GOTHENBURG, 1-3

Posted: Sun Nov 04, 2007 10:33 pm
by Emrik Larsson
After our success with the World Cup races in June 2007, we just had to apply for the World champ’s next year.

The application form is sent to ISSA, the city of Gothenburg is behind us in promoting this huge event, and making this upcoming competition the best ever.

The races are going to be held in beautiful Slottsskogen, with the GS taking place on a different and steeper location.

If everything goes our way, you will be able to sign up in February 2008. We’re pretty sure to meet all of you in Gothenburg the 1st of august next year.

And remember, the current World Champ Henrik Wadsten has just begun his winter training, looking forward to beat all upcoming stars and old schoolers out there…

ps, the website is going to get an update with films , photos etc..; I'll keep you posted...

WOMENS' DIVISION, NO CASH PRIZES?

Posted: Sat May 03, 2008 10:25 pm
by Joyce Wheldrake
Why do you not have a cash purse for women? You have $6000 Euro for men, and nothing for women. These are the Worlds, this is an unacceptable situation, please correct and publicize your inclusion of Women receiving cash prizes, not hoodies, t shirts and gear they cant or wont use.
Unstoked and unhappy!

Joyce,

The prize money is for pro racers. There is no pro women's division, as of yet... there's just not enough of us.
If you race with the pros, you will be eligible for prize money.

Posted: Sun May 04, 2008 9:23 pm
by Ramón Königshausen
Well, what I have to tell you ladies, is that at last year's race in gothenburg there was about 1000 or 2000 Euros of prize money only for the women.

You know how many were there?

None. Zero. Nobody. Not a single woman. The prize money could not have benn given away.

think about that....

ISSA RULES wrote:10.1. RACER CLASSIFICATIONS
The following racer classifications are recognized. Not every contest will award points, prizes, and
medals to every one of these classifications. A racer must race in one and only one classification for each race.
· Open: Every racer may race in the “open” classification.
· Skill level (self declared grouping):
o Pro / Amateur
· Gender
o Female / Male
· Age:
o Juniors: (17 and under) racers who’s age will not reach 18 in the current year.
o Teens: (14 and under) those racers who’s age will not reach 15 in the current year.
o Kids: (11 and under) those racers who’s age will not reach 12 in the current year.
o Masters: Those racers who’s age is 45 years or older.
Unless the World Championships are deviating from the rules, a racer must race in only one classification.

I think for Juniors it is very important to acquire racing experience and therefore they should be allowed to race both, Amateur AND Juniors category, if the want to.

Like this they get used to the racing rhytm and it won't be that much of a big step to race Amateur or Pro because they already know how it goes.

Furthermore I think that at races you always make the greatest progress and learn many things concerning mental strength...

That's just my opionion and I'd like to make this a suggestion for a Rules revision in 2009.

I can't afford it, I shouldn't be going AND I'll get my old ass whipped....But, a friend advanced me the airfare...I'M COMING!!!!
By my count there are 95 skaters signed up - Incredible, guess everyone has heard that the Swedes know how to run a race!
There are too many people registered who I either haven't seen for a long time or only know on the internet, plus once I move to Utah, God knows when I'll be back in Europe...so, I had to do it!
Be there or be square!

Martin.
