I fully support this but I think we need to make a bigger deal of letting everyone know about the discount for paying early. I was under the impression I could pay $25 on the hill in texas.

Edit: where did Wes's original post go?

Membership information and payment links should be on the main page of the website but:

Gary Fluitt wrote:ISSA 2010

So in 2010, we will begin charging an annual fee for ISSA membership. Racers in Main and Major ISSA-sanctioned events in 2010 will be required to join the ISSA and pay this fee. The fee will be $25 USD (€20) if you pre-pay before going to your first race. If you choose to pay at your first race, the fee will be slightly higher: $30 USD (€25).

Count on it Karl. We've got some things to settle with the BOD and then count on information and communication.

Neil,

I wish I knew how to do that, it would be done already.

We are waiting on our web guy to come back from a business trip.

Good question.

#1 Paypal comes at a price. Paypalling the race and the race paypalling us comes with two sets of fees.

#2 The ISSA would prefer to be responsible for collecting the fees, instead of putting another "job" on a contest organizer. It would be great if we could tell everyone that they had to pay prior to the race. Hell, it would be great if you could count on racers to pay their entry fee before a race, but there will always be last minute entrys.

So just like races will have a deal like $80 before March 1, $100 after", it's our way of incenting you to get it done ahead of time.

#3 When you register as an ISSA member, you enter our roles and become a known entity. In dealing with points and standings you my friend have shown up as Fatboy, Fatty, Ron, and Ron Barbagallo. Now I know who you are, but potentially some Nordic accountant tracking your points, does not.

It's good to have that done in advance of the race so that you can be registered and loaded into the racing software ahead of time.

Again, the changes we are sponsoring at the ISSA are to make races easier to run, less of a hassle for both racer and organizer. Our hope is that the easier the race becomes, the more races you will have to choose from.

Okay, fair enough. I get it. Especially the event promoter having to be responsible for ISSA memberships.

I just asked because most people would rather spout off about something than ask a simple question.

USASA snowboarding charges $75 BEFORE a certain date (well in advance of first comp) and $85 after that. They refer to the initial number as a "discount" for paying early, and the latter as the "regular" fee.

It's funny but the motion to add a surcharge for mindless banter failed by only one vote.

I have to agree with Rick and Cat = that photo will do nothing to encourage new racers.

Plus it seems that Wes is trying to show off his 'junk"!!

More like Eddy has an unnatural infatuation.

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Wes Tucker: why did you post this thread and delete your post? My post was a response to your post. Why can't everyone see it?

I deleted nothing.

I SPLIT the original post:

http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/phpBB ... php?t=7274

I then locked that thread so it remains an information-only post about how to join and the various fees.

All the subsequent discussion was moved to this thread starting with your post.
