Race Organization Forum - About the New Forum

Post by Wesley Tucker » Fri Feb 19, 2010 7:45 pm

Well,

Ron "Fatboy" Barbagallo wanted a forum as a resource for people wanting to put on a race.

This is my idea for a start. The one-stop resource topic is linked to a race organizer header on the front page off SS.com. Click it and users go straight to the good stuff.

The actual one-stop topic will remain LOCKED. No back and forth about what someone thinks of the material and resources available. That's why there are other topics.

Also, this forum will be MODERATED HEAVILY. Keep the chatter to a minimum. We intend for people new to the sport and wanting to get involved to come here looking for help.

IF YOU HAVE AN IDEA OR SOMETHING ADD . . .

. . . please post it here or forward it to me or Ron (this forum's moderator) for inclusion in the one-stop topic. Well, assuming the powers that be deem it applicable to the resource. Your recipe for clam chowder, although possibly tasty, is not really a help to someone trying to get city council to agree to closing a street for a weekend.

What we want to avoid are links to other sites. If you think something is worthwhile and will make racing and race events easier to organize and more fun for everyone involved, let us know and we'll do what we can to add it to the ISSA's "resouce library."

Thanks for your cooperation

Sample of successful proposal for holding a race.

Post by Pat Chewning » Fri Mar 26, 2010 3:28 pm

This is a sample of a skateboard race proposal that was successful in attaining sponsorship of the Oregon State Games addition of park slalom.

This was presented to the city of Aumsville and to the Oregon Amateur Athletic Association.

The content and format might be useful for other race promoters to leverage as they prepare for putting on races.
